Solar Design Engineer – Commercial Solar & Battery Systems (AU & India Projects)

Ecologiq is a renewable energy engineering and EPC group operating in Australia and expanding in India. We design and deliver commercial solar PV and battery energy storage systems for government bodies, councils, schools, and strategic commercial clients.

We require a technically strong Senior Solar Design Engineer capable of handling detailed system design, client technical queries, and compliance-driven engineering work across Australia and India projects.

Role Summary

This role is responsible for complete technical design of commercial solar PV and battery systems, including:

AC schematics

DC schematics

PV layouts

SLD preparation

Cable sizing and protection coordination

Technical documentation for client submission

The candidate must be highly competent in commercial-scale system design and comfortable engaging with clients on technical matters.

Key Responsibilities

1.Solar PV System Design

Prepare detailed DC and AC schematics

Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs)

Perform string sizing and inverter selection

Design AC distribution integration

Conduct voltage drop and cable sizing calculations

Ensure compliance with applicable standards (AU & India where relevant)

2. PV Layout & System Modelling

Create rooftop and ground-mount PV layouts

Perform shading analysis

Optimise array configuration

Use PV modelling tools for yield estimation

Prepare engineering-ready drawings for execution

3. Battery & Hybrid Integration (Preferred)

Design battery storage system integration

Develop hybrid system schematics

Understand EMS concepts

Coordinate PV + BESS architecture

Knowledge of grid-connected and backup configurations

Battery experience is highly preferred.

4.Technical Documentation & Compliance

Prepare technical submissions for clients

Respond to consultant and client technical queries

Support tender documentation

Review compliance with standards (AS/NZS exposure preferred)

Coordinate with Engineering Head for QA review

5.Client & Internal Coordination

Handle client technical clarification calls

Explain system design logic professionally

Coordinate with marketing and sales for pre-sales support

Support proposal engineering

Strong written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.

6. Required Technical Skills

Must have strong experience in:

AC & DC schematic design

PV system design for commercial projects

Solar design tools

AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software

Cable sizing & protection calculations

Inverter and BOS selection

Preferred:

Battery system design experience

Hybrid system integration

Exposure to Australian standards

7.Experience Requirements

35+ years experience in commercial solar design

Experience designing 100kW to multi-MW systems

Proven experience in preparing engineering-ready documentation

Experience handling technical queries independently
