Software Senior Engineer - UX Designer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Senior Engineer. We are seeking a creative and user-centric UX Designer with hands-on experience in Figma and a strong foundation in design thinking methodologies. You will play a critical role in shaping intuitive, scalable, and visually engaging user experiences across our digital products. This role requires close collaboration with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to design end-to-end workflows that align with both user needs and business goals.

In this role, you will:

• Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
• Contribute to large scale planning of strategies
• Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
• Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
• Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
• Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
• Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

• Exposure to developer portals, platform experiences, or enterprise SaaS products.

• Experience with user research tools like Maze, Optimal Workshop, or UserTesting.

• Familiarity with tools like Miro, FigJam, or Adobe Creative Suite.

• Understanding of front-end frameworks such as React or Angular from a design-handshake perspective.

Job Expectations:

• Experience in UX/UI design with a strong portfolio showcasing design thinking-led projects.

• Expert in Figma (components, prototyping, design systems).

• Strong understanding of user-centered design, accessibility standards, and responsive design.

• Familiarity with HTML/CSS, and the ability to collaborate effectively with developers.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum product development environments.

• Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.

• Apply design thinking principles to discover, define, ideate, prototype, and test user-centric solutions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma.

• Conduct user research, usability testing, and journey mapping to inform design decisions.

• Deliver high-fidelity UI designs that are consistent with our design system and brand guidelines.

• Work closely with front-end engineers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.

• Iterate on feedback to enhance UX quality and product usability.

• Contribute to and evolve the design system and reusable UI components.
