Position Title: Software Engineer

Morningstar® Data for Funds provides comprehensive coverage of global stock markets from as early as 1975. We are continuously broadening our coverage and creating new products to help clients prepare for regulatory changes and other industry shifts. Our data features proprietary statistics and is developed using stringent quality screens to ensure accuracy. From APIs to data feeds, our solutions are delivered quickly to help institutions meet a broad range of functions.

The Role: Morningstar is looking for an intermediate-level UI developer who is passionate about user development and data visualization. We need a developer who loves the challenge of turning complex data into great communication design, translating usage patterns into intuitive interactions and workflows, and creating rewarding experiences for our client base of individual investors, financial advisors, institutional research analysts, planners, and financial services enterprises. User Interface developers will work with user designers, software developers, project managers, product managers, and business owners to develop the next generation of our web-based applications and assist in the critical evaluation and continuous improvement of existing ones.

This position is based in our Mumbai office

Responsibilities:

• Design & develop web and enterprise solutions to be flexible, scalable & extensible.

• Improve complex data flow, data structures and db design to move to next platform.

• Enforce good agile practices like test driven development, Continuous Integration.

• Hands-on development will be an integral part of the responsibilities.

• Develop areas of continuous and automated deployment.

• Introduce and follow good development practices, innovative frameworks and technology solutions that help business move faster.

• Follow best practices like estimation, planning, reporting and improvement brought to processes in every day work.

Requirements: These are the most important skills, qualities, etc. that we’d like for this role.

• 2-3 Years of experience

• A solid foundation on OOP, Algorithm, Data Structure

• Proven work experience with Angular / React or Vue JS (3)

• Build efficient and reusable front-end systems that drive complex web applications

• Complete medium to large features (each with many tasks) independently.

• Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues

• Write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability

• Solve problems and have the tenacity to drive issues to a conclusion

• Experience with application scaffolding tools, automation & development tools, and dependency management (e.g. Yeoman, Bower, npm, grunt)

• Experience in writing object oriented JavaScript will be an advantage.

• Understanding of Continuous Integration (CI) and exposure to tools preferably Jenkins is a plus

• Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.

Good to Have:

• Exposure to Capital Market domain preferred (Indexes, Equity etc.)

• Machine Learning knowledge.
