Meet Our Team:

The Global Localization Platform team is responsible for an automated string management platform that transforms how we handle user-facing text across all our products, as well as the tools and tooling components used to manage localizations through self-service within our internal suite of tools called Studio. This platform significantly boosts the productivity of Copywriters and Translation Operations, while improving the workflow for development teams that integrate language strings. By automating string collection, translation and deployment, the team ensures higher-quality English and translated strings are delivered faster and more consistently. In short, our team’s work underpins the localization efforts that make Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming products truly global.

Roles & Responsibilities:

We are hiring a Software Development Engineer II to join the Global Localization Platform team in Bangalore, India:

  • You are developing your expertise in building scalable, high-performance systems and are beginning to take ownership of features that impact the team and product.

  • You have demonstrated the ability to deliver high-quality code to production, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • You thrive in an environment that encourages learning, collaboration and continuous improvement and you contribute to a positive engineering culture through thoughtful code reviews, solid documentation and constructive feedback.

  • You’re someone who exercises sound judgment within established technical guidelines but is also eager to grow and expand your skills.

  • You are comfortable working across the stack and with modern tools and platforms and you’re gaining confidence in analyzing problems, proposing solutions and executing with increasing autonomy.

  • While you may still seek guidance from more senior engineers, you are trusted to deliver reliably and to help uphold best practices in development and operational excellence.

  • You bring curiosity, accountability and a strong sense of ownership to everything you build.

  • Design, implement and maintain backend and frontend features for the Global String Localization platform that supports localization across HBO Max, Discovery+, CNN and other WBD services. Deliver production-ready code that is robust, performant and secure.

  • Write high-quality code with good test coverage, following team standards. Contribute to unit, integration and end-to-end tests and participate in peer reviews to maintain code consistency and shared ownership.

  • Take ownership of services in production by implementing metrics, dashboards and logging. Participate in incident resolution, postmortems and improvement of monitoring and alerting systems.

  • Work closely with engineers, product managers and localization experts to deliver end-to-end features. Participate in sprint ceremonies and team planning discussions, breaking down work and estimating scope.

  • Build domain expertise in localization systems and platform engineering best practices. Seek feedback, collaborate effectively and learn from more senior engineers while contributing meaningfully to the team’s goals.

  • Help integrate the localization platform with other WBD services by developing APIs and supporting cross-service data flows. Contribute to schema and protocol design in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Document your code, contribute to internal knowledge bases and improve local team processes by participating in retrospectives and suggesting enhancements to workflows.

What to Bring:

  • 3-5years of hands-on software development experience, preferably in cloud-based environments working with distributed systems.

  • Proficiency in backend development using Java or Node.js and familiarity with frontend development using ReactJS and TypeScript.

  • Solid understanding of AWS services, particularly Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, API Gateway, S3 and CloudWatch.

  • Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and working within a microservices ecosystem.

  • Familiarity with database technologies, both relational and NoSQL (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).

  • Exposure to observability practices including monitoring, logging and alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Kibana, CloudWatch).

  • Strong emphasis on writing clean, maintainable code and working collaboratively within a team.

  • Comfortable working in agile development processes, with regular code reviews, iterative delivery and sprint-based planning.

  • Experience or interest in localization workflows, translation tools, or content internationalization is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
