About The Role
The Telematics Solution position will report into the HARMAN Engineering organization and will be responsible for researching and the delivering software, POCs for automotive embedded devices, which are for automotive grade products. Telematics is the key foundational technology for the connected car and autonomous driving. It includes technology like LTE modems and network access devices (NADs) as well as wireless standards e.g. BT/Wi-Fi, GNSS, NFC etc. are one of the fastest growing areas. HARMAN works with leading suppliers to design telematics solutions to ensure every in-car experience is entertaining, productive, safe, and secure.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and test scalable and maintainable embedded Linux applications for the automotive Telematics Applications domain, ensuring optimal performance across CPU, memory, disk, power, and network usage.
- Collaborate in the design and development of applications within domains such as Emergency Calling (eCall/PSAP), OTA/Software Updates, Location/Positioning, Data Collection/Real-time Monitoring, and Connectivity (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, NFC).
- Analyze and translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring alignment with functional and non-functional goals.
- Create comprehensive design artifacts including use cases, user stories, sequence diagrams, state diagrams, block diagrams, and class diagrams for both high-level and low-level design.
- Develop reusable and efficient C/C++ code, adhering to automotive-grade standards and best practices.
- Identify and define software components, dependencies, and interfaces, and contribute to work breakdown structures, estimation, and scheduling across all phases of the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams focused on Telematics applications to ensure cohesive and reliable software solutions.
- Partner with product and program management teams to support planning and execution of new product launches and feature releases.
- Actively contribute to team discussions with innovative ideas and problem-solving approaches; proactively engage with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Masters/Bachelor’s degree in electrical, communications, computer engineering or a similar discipline.
- Should have 5 -to-7 years of overall experience.
- Working experience with Linux on an embedded platform, including build environments.
- Hands on experience with Debugging using GDB and ability to analyze back traces.
- Strong understanding of embedded platform concepts (at least a few) e.g boot procedure, location-based applications, Calling & Data (LTE) applications, or similar applications in wi-fi, BT, NFC etc.
- Knowledge of Open Embedded, Bitbake and package management is a strong plus.
- Resourcefulness in understanding integration problems.
- Create reusable and scalable C, C++ code.
- Proficient understanding of STL (Standard Template Library): containers and algorithms.
- Good understanding of Linux IPC (Inter Process Communication) mechanisms like sockets, message ques, shared memory.
- Working experience in multithreading environment and thread synchronization techniques.
- Working experience with industry standard version control systems like GIT, Gerrit.
- Working experience with Gtest based C++ unit test framework.
- Good written and oral communication skills to collaborate with teams across geographies.
What Makes You Eligible
- Prior knowledge of software development for Automotive Products is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand Hardware schematics analysis related to connectivity circuits.
- Experience working with Agile entities (Epics/Stories/Tasks) for planning and execution.
