Amazon’s Geospatial and Sensor Intelligence team within Last Mile improves internal and external customer experience by architecting and operationalizing systems that assist the transporters in real
- time on the road as well as enable large scale data processing based insight generation.
These complex systems will provide optimization and enforce efficiency in parcel delivery that will continue to challenge the norms of transportation technology.
Our teams have recognized the unsolved problems, which range from the addition or modification of roads, leveraging single IMU sensor sources, parsing unstructured address, and other optimization obstacles.
The key output metrics within this role include location and coverage accuracy of our road network for routing and users, predictive accuracy of offline systems, and the operational impact of delivery success and gaps between the above mentioned metrics.

You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions.
You will be expected to create a roadmap, align with business partners on prioritization, propose appropriate tradeoffs, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.

- Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best

- Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
- Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Ability to drive consensus within a team and influence outcomes in significant technical decision
- making
