Job Description
Position: Quality Assurance Manager
Location: Sanand, Gujarat
Experience: 10-12 years of involvement in UPS testing or service (MUST)
Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Power Electronics / Industrial Electronics
ROLE PURPOSE
The QA Manager will be responsible for ensuring product quality, reliability, and compliance of power conditioning products like UPS through robust failure analysis, validation testing, and field-quality management. The role involves leading a QA team, driving corrective actions, and working closely with R&D, Manufacturing, and Service teams to improve product performance and customer satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Assurance & Product Validation:
- Lead quality assurance activities for wide range of UPS products across development and production stages.
- Define and execute product validation and reliability testing plans (functional, environmental, thermal, electrical, endurance, and stress testing).
- Ensure compliance with applicable national and international standards (IEC, IS, IEEE, UL, CE, etc.).
Failure Analysis & Field Quality:
- Conduct detailed failure analysis (FA) on returned, failed, or field-reported products.
- Visit customer sites for critical failures to perform root cause analysis and support resolution.
- Drive RCA, CAPA, and corrective/preventive actions in coordination with design, manufacturing, and service teams.
- Analyze field failure trends and provide inputs for design and process improvements.
Process & Compliance:
- Establish and improve QA processes, test protocols, and inspection methodologies.
- Ensure adherence to quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 where applicable).
- Support internal and external audits and ensure closure of audit observations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, SCM, and Service teams to improve product robustness and reduce field failures.
- Review design changes, BOM modifications, and process changes from a quality perspective.
- Provide technical inputs during new product introduction (NPI).
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the QA and testing team.
- Allocate work, review test results, and ensure skill enhancement within the team.
- Build a strong quality culture with focus on zero-defect mindset and continuous improvement.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Technical Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience in failure analysis of power electronics products.
- In-depth knowledge of UPS, inverters, rectifiers, power supplies, and related subsystems.
- Good understanding of power electronics components, control circuits, thermal management, and protection schemes.
- Experience in field failure handling and customer interaction.
- Familiarity with quality tools such as 8D, Fishbone, FMEA, SPC, Pareto analysis.
Preferred Background:
- Experience in manufacturing organizations dealing with power conditioning or industrial electronics products.
- Exposure to high-power / industrial-grade UPS systems is highly desirable.
