- Youll design and validate control strategies for DERs, BESS, inverters, and grid-interactive assets
- Youll perform Feasibility, System Impact, and Facilities Studies aligned with US ISO/RTO processes such as PJM Interconnection, MISO, CAISO, ERCOT, and ISO New England
- Youll conduct load flow, short circuit, contingency and transient stability studies
- Youll evaluate renewable (Solar/Wind), BESS, and hybrid plant interconnections
- Youll assess system strength, voltage stability, and reactive power performance
- Youll identify required transmission upgrades and develop technical justifications
- Youll perform protection coordination and breaker duty evaluations
- Youll support compliance with NERC standards (TPL, MOD, PRC)
- Youll prepare detailed technical study reports for US utility and ISO submissions
- Youll coordinate with clients, ISO planners, and internal design teams for model validation and comment resolution
- Youll review dynamic models (GENROU, REGC_A, REEC_B, etc.) for inverter-based resources
- Youll support regulatory documentation and audit requirements
Essential Qualifications include:
- 6-12 years of experience in Grid Analytics, Power Systems, or Transmission Planning
- Strong foundation in: Power systems fundamentals, Transmission planning principles, Control systems (classical / modern control concepts), Grid dynamics with high renewable and DER penetration, Fault analysis and protection philosophy, Stability analysis of inverter-based resources
- Experience performing interconnection studies for US utilities
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: PSSE / PSLF / PSCAD / ASPEN / ETAP
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills aligned with US standards
Great to have:
- Experience in distribution-level hosting capacity or DER impact studies
- Exposure to large-scale renewable portfolios
- Familiarity with FERC-driven interconnection reforms
- Client-facing or consulting experience with US stakeholders
- Exposure to hybrid plants (Solar + BESS) or grid-forming inverters
