Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with large scale distributed systems.
Experience with Cloud development (e.g., GCP, etc.).
Experience partnering closely with Product Management and multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals.
Experience working with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and carrying pager and supporting production environments.
Familiarity with control plane and managed service concepts, including scalability, availability, replication, workflows.
Familiarity with Google Cloud, Spanner, OnePlatform, Borg, Tenant Manager, GCE, etc.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership to junior engineers focused on reliable, scalable, and secure Cloud SQL Control Plane and regionalization and modernization initiatives.
Own and drive the design, implementation, quality and rollout of key features that provide new managed databases experiences for our customers.
Work with customer engineers on critical customer cases to fix underlying issues that cause customer's operational disruptions.
Adapt and grow in an agile environment with support of leadership to continue prioritizing the most impactful things to work from a never ending list.
Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads (TLs), and Product Managers across various teams in Cloud SQL, in GCE, in Spanner, in Infrastructure, and Google at large to ensure alignment on direction, plans and execution.
