Senior React Developer - contractor in USD

For an international project in Chennai, we are urgently looking for a (Senior) React Developer to transform AI agent prototypes developed by the data science team into robust, scalable, and maintainable user-facing web applications.

We are looking for a motivated contractor. Candidates need to be fluent in English.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Translate proof-of-concept AI agent capabilities and workflows developed by the data science team into production-ready React-based user interfaces;
• Design and implement scalable front-end architectures using React, ensuring maintainability, extensibility, and high performance;
• Build responsive and accessible web applications that present GenAI agent outputs, workflows, and insights in a clear and intuitive manner;
• Integrate front-end applications with back-end services, APIs, and Azure-based GenAI workflows;
• Ensure production readiness by addressing error handling, loading states, resiliency, logging, and front-end monitoring;
• Collaborate closely with data scientists and back-end engineers to understand AI model behavior, assumptions, and limitations, and reflect them accurately in the UI/UX;
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from UI/UX design and implementation to testing, deployment, and production support;
• Write clean, reusable, and well-documented front-end code, and proactively reduce technical debt during the productionization process;
• Optimize application performance, bundle size, and rendering efficiency across complex GenAI-driven interfaces;
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared front-end engineering standards and best practices;
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across React applications, browser environments, and API integrations;

Profile:

• Bachelor or Master degree;
• +6 years of professional experience in front-end development, with strong emphasis on React and modern JavaScript frameworks;
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3;
• Demonstrated experience building and operating production-grade web applications.
• Hands-on experience with React, including hooks, state management, and component-based architecture;
• Experience with front-end state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand, or equivalent);
• Experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs and back-end services;
• Solid understanding of UI/UX principles, accessibility (WCAG), and responsive design;
• Familiarity with GenAI-powered applications and presenting AI-driven workflows or insights in user interfaces;
• Strong grasp of front-end production engineering concepts such as error handling, observability, performance optimization, and fault tolerance;
• Experience with front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress);
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control workflows;
• Fluent in English;
