Senior QA Automation Engineer (Playwright)

Role Summary

Were looking for our first dedicated QA Automation Engineer to build and own our automated testing practice from the ground up.

You'll design and implement a robust automated test suite for our React (Remix) application and backend APIs, covering regression, smoke, and integration testing. We ship fast, so automation is critical.

This is a hands-on builder role in a seed-stage startup. You wont just execute test cases, youll help shape our quality strategy.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end automated tests using Playwright
• Build regression and smoke test suites for our React (Remix) frontend
• Automate API testing for backend services
• Validate AI-powered endpoints (e.g. image-based responses and structured outputs)
• Define and improve testing processes in collaboration with engineering
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Identify edge cases and proactively improve quality standards
• Work closely with the CTO to shape and evolve the test strategy

Qualifications

• Strong experience in QA automation (5+ years preferred)
• Hands-on experience with Playwright (or similar modern E2E frameworks)
• Experience testing modern JavaScript frontends (React preferred)
• Solid understanding of API testing and REST-based services
• Experience working in fast-moving startup environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset
• Comfortable testing systems involving AI/ML outputs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience testing PostgreSQL-backed systems
• Experience with CI/CD automation
• Experience in B2B SaaS products
