Senior Project Engineer - FitOut

The Senior Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in driving store expansion by independently managing multiple retail fitout projects from bare shell handover to store launch.

This role demands strong site leadership, cost control discipline, vendor governance, and the ability to deliver high-quality stores within aggressive timelines across regions. The position reports to the Project Manager and acts as second-in-command for

execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Multi-Store Project Ownership

Independently manage 36 store fitout projects simultaneously across locations.

Drive execution from layout freeze to store handover.

Ensure strict adherence to brand design guidelines and retail fixture standards.

Take ownership of timelines, site readiness, and launch commitments.

2. Technical & Drawing Governance

Review and approve GFC drawings before site execution.

Ensure compliance with mall/landlord fitout manuals.

Coordinate with architects, consultants, PMCs, landlords, and statutory authorities.

Drive value engineering without compromising brand aesthetics.

3. Cost Control & BOQ Management

Prepare, validate, and optimize BOQs.

Track cost vs approved budget and prevent overruns.

Verify site measurements and contractor billing.

Monitor invoice submission checklist and documentation discipline.

4. Site Execution & Quality Control

Oversee civil works, commercial interiors, false ceiling, POP, partitioning, HVAC & MEP coordination.

Conduct frequent site visits to ensure quality benchmarks are met.

Resolve on-ground technical issues proactively.

Ensure zero-defect store handover through structured snag closures.

5. Vendor & Contractor Leadership

Drive contractor performance and accountability.

Negotiate execution timelines and monitor delivery.

Develop a reliable vendor ecosystem for faster rollout.

6. Planning & Risk Management

Create detailed micro-level project schedules.

Track daily/weekly progress using project management tools.

Identify risks early and implement corrective action plans.

Ensure stores open as per expansion calendar.

7. Documentation & Compliance

Maintain all project documentation including contracts, GFCs, As-builts, warranties.

Ensure audit-ready documentation at all times.

Monitor statutory approvals and safety compliance.

8. Maintenance & Post-Launch Support

Develop preventive maintenance schedules.

Support maintenance of interiors, exteriors, and fixtures across operational stores.

Ensure long-term durability of fitouts.

9. Team Support & Capability Building

Mentor Project Engineers and site supervisors.

Drive process improvements in project tracking and reporting.

Support Project Head in expansion planning and execution strategy.

Candidate Profile

Experience: 59 years in retail fitout / commercial interior projects.

Must have executed multiple retail store rollouts (mall/high-street format).

Education: Degree in Civil Engineering, Interior Design, or related field.

Strong expertise in:

o Commercial interiors & finishing

o Retail fixtures & space planning

o HVAC & MEP coordination

o Drawing review & technical detailing

Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and project tracking tools.

Strong cost monitoring and BOQ management skills.

Experience handling contractors and cross-functional stakeholders.

High ownership mindset and deadline-driven.

Willing to travel extensively across regions.

Retail brand expansion background preferred.
