Job Description

Role overview:

The Infrastructure Platform Engineering (IPE) team, part of Infrastructure and Cloud division, is responsible for the engineering and operation of LSEG’s Group Engineering’s core infrastructure services, including data centres, storage, private cloud, platforms, databases, and middleware. Our mission is to modernise and transform the experience of our customers and our own ways of working, by deploying automation and Platform-as-Product services, to enable increasingly efficient, scalable and secure infrastructure products that better support business operations and future transformation.

As a Senior Product Manager, IT Asset Decommissioning, you will devise a more structured and strategic multi-year decommissioning roadmap for enterprise-wide, by partnering closely with collaborators across business units, engineering teams, and transformation programmes. This will include proactively capturing upcoming changes and quantifying emerging demand that will affect infrastructure by partnering with transformation programme leads and the wider product teams, to enable more effective multi-year planning. Alongside the strategic decommissioning roadmap, you will facilitate ongoing operations of the decommission pipeline and seek opportunities to accelerate or optimise delivery of existing decommissioning initiatives.

To support IPE’s Transformation objectives and journey towards Platform as Product, you will also be responsible for transforming the operation of decommissioning services toward a product-led operating model. You will build a product strategy which establishes Decommissioning Services as a true product capability, and through the enhancement of existing automation, and the development of new platform capabilities which empower our customers through more self-service consumption, while enabling faster, safer decommissions.

What you will be doing:

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Partner with customers, collaborators and technical teams to establish a clear product vision and strategy for one/multiple strategic decommissioning products required to solve problems and meet needs across LSEG’s Engineering estate
  • Product Roadmap & Backlog Definition: define the product backlog and roadmap, and steer prioritisation of user stories, features, and delivery throughput.
  • Business & Demand Planning: Facilitate cross-functional planning, working closely with customers and partner programs to factor inbound dependencies into backlog prioritisation and roadmaps, while ensuring balanced sprint plans.
  • Drive cost optimisation: Establish strong partnerships with Asset Management teams to ensure accurate asset in sights and lifecycle data. Provide strategic input into cost models, enabling improved decision and measurable financial outcomes for the Group.
  • Requirements Gathering: Facilitate discussions with partners to capture requirements and translate them into actionable backlog items, while ensuring clarity and feasibility for engineering teams
  • Ownership of Delivery: Lead delivery across the Decommissioning Engineering team throughout the end-to-end delivery chain, identifying and implementing opportunities to optimise and maximise for value and efficiency.
  • Stakeholder engagement: act as a conduit between technical teams and customers, aligning with portfolio and partner program governance processes and fostering collaboration to achieve consensus on key decisions
  • Lead Agile Ceremonies: facilitate ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, ensuring the development process stays on track.
  • Reporting: Create clarity and facilitate decisions through insightful and timely reporting to programs and collaborators, using data to advise on progress or improvement opportunities.
  • Implementing metrics and KPIs: work with the team in defining and meeting the right set of metrics to drive delivery productivity and output quality, including finding opportunities to optimise for timeliness, efficiency and quality in the delivery cycle.
  • Risk, Issue & Dependency Management: proactively manage dependencies, risk and issues for delivery, documenting assumptions, assessing likelihood and impact, planning mitigations and raising issues as needed.
  • Foster continuous improvement and collaboration: Drive our collaboration and continuous improvement culture, including seeking to assess and improve processes, tools, and practices to enhance team performance and product quality.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or similar, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure technology, platform engineering, or large-scale transformation roles.
  • 7+ years of experience leading complex, cross-functional technology projects as a Product Manager / Scrum Master with successful outcomes using agile and lean principles.
  • Solid understanding of technology infrastructure, application lifecycle, technical debt management and decommissioning methodologies.
  • Familiarity with service and asset management, change governance, and operational risk practices.
  • Strategic and outcome-focused mindset with ability to translate high-level business requirements and objectives into practical roadmaps.
  • Agile & Scrum: Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional delivery teams in Agile and Scrum methodologies, including backlog management and sprint planning.
  • Product Management / Product Ownership:
    • Expertise in gathering and interpreting customer requirements, from experience fulfilling a Technical Business Analyst/Product Manager or a similar role.
    • Demonstrable experience working in roles aligned to product design & development, good familiarity with product methodology
  • Stakeholder Management: Track record of establishing and maintaining trust with partners of all levels through clear communication, using mediation and problem-solving techniques to maintain positive relationships, and consistent delivery of project outcomes.
  • Communication and influencing:
    • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to influence senior business customers with a high degree of professional maturity and resilience.
    • Strong negotiation skills in de-escalating interpersonal or inter-team conflicts.
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivated with strong attention to detail and follow through.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure with a high degree of initiative and flexibility; capable of handling competing demands, ambiguity, and changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for effective change management and problem-solving.
  • Data literacy: good data literacy and experience working with data, comfortable with data principles and best practice (technical expertise in data analysis or modelling is not required).
  • Essential Tooling knowledge: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and experience using planning and tracking tooling such as Asana or JIRA essential.

What you will get in return:

  • strategic leadership role at the enterprise level, where you will shape the future of Infrastructure Platform Engineering (IPE) and play a key part in driving the Group’s technology transformation.
  • Exposure to pioneering technologies in infrastructure, automation, hybrid cloud, and platform engineering – delivering meaningful impact through modern delivery models.
  • Daily collaboration with dedicated, cross-functional teams including engineering, transformation, product, finance, and operations across multiple geographies.
  • competitive compensation package and a comprehensive benefits offering.
  • Access to continuous learning and professional development opportunities, with support for certifications, leadership development and growing your career as a Product leader.
