Job Description
InCommon is hiring on behalf of a US-based Series-B funded Healthcare Startup.
Role Overview
We are building a net-new, patient-facing mobile app and are looking for a senior product designer to lead the experience from zero to one. This is a foundational role where you will shape how patients interact with care, services, and health journeys through a mobile-first experience.
You will work at the intersection of product, engineering, and real users, owning early concept definition, UX architecture, and research-driven design decisions. This is not a polish-only UI role. The core of this job is problem framing, user understanding, and end-to-end experience design .
What Youll Work On
- Design the second mobile app in our ecosystem, this time patient-facing (the first app is provider-facing)
- Help define the product from early concepts to production-ready flows
- Contribute to a zero-to-one native mobile experience , built on a React Native stack
- Play a key role in shaping how in-house product and design capabilities are built
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end UX design for a patient-facing B2C mobile application
- Conduct and drive user research , including:
- Direct calls with patients for concept validation
- Usability testing and early prototype feedback
- Applying structured research methodologies to inform design decisions
- Design core user journeys, flows, and interaction patterns for complex, real-world healthcare scenarios
- Work closely with product, engineering, and clinical/operations stakeholders to translate needs into usable experiences
- Contribute to system-level thinking around mobile architecture, scalability of flows, and cross-feature consistency
- Leverage existing design system components while defining new patterns where needed
- Operate with high autonomy while collaborating cross-functionally
What Were Looking For
Must-Haves
- Strong experience designing B2C mobile apps
- Proven track record working on early-stage / zero-to-one products
- Deep strength in UX flows, information architecture, and interaction design
- Hands-on experience running user research (not just consuming research from others)
- Comfort speaking directly with users (patients) to test and refine concepts
- Ability to work independently and drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces
Good to Have
- Healthcare or health-tech experience
- Experience designing for sensitive, high-trust user contexts
- Familiarity with React Native product environments
- Experience contributing to or working within design systems
