Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to lead enterprise-scale data architecture, modeling standards, and domain data strategy across business functions. This role will serve as the technical authority for our data platform, ensuring scalable architecture, consistent modeling practices, and alignment with business KPIs, particularly in revenue and sales domains.

This is a hands-on role requiring deep technical expertise, architectural vision, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Design and evolve scalable, secure, and cost-efficient data architecture.

Lead enterprise data modeling initiatives, including revenue and sales domain modeling.

Define and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and review processes in dbt.

Architect and maintain dimensional models (star/snowflake schemas) optimized for analytics.

Establish and manage data contracts with upstream systems, including Salesforce.

Drive BigQuery performance optimization and cost governance strategies.

Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for dbt and data workflows.

Lead data quality framework implementation (testing, validation, observability).

Partner with Analytics, Finance, GTM, and Product leaders to define and standardize KPIs.

Mentor and guide Senior and Data Engineers; establish engineering best practices.

Collaborate with BI teams to ensure semantic consistency and analytical usability.

Required Qualifications

10-16 years of experience in data engineering or data platform roles.

Deep expertise in GCP services (BigQuery, IAM, Dataplex, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer or equivalent).

Advanced SQL proficiency (complex joins, window functions, query optimization).

Strong hands-on experience with dbt (Core or Cloud).

Proven experience modeling revenue, sales, or financial data domains.

Experience designing and implementing dimensional data warehouse schemas.

Experience integrating and modeling Salesforce data.

Strong understanding of data governance, data contracts, and best practices.

Demonstrated stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Working knowledge of BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker).

Nice to Have

Experience building or managing semantic layers.

Exposure to data observability tools.

Prior experience contributing to or leading a Data Center of Excellence (COE).
