Job Description

Qualification:

B. Tech- Electrical/Electrical & Electronics


Professional Experience:


Minimum of 810 years of experience in the power distribution sector, specifically with AMI and Smart Grid technologies and proven track record in conducting consultancy studies for load management and supply optimization.


Expert-level knowledge of power system simulation tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSS/E, or CYME. Familiarity with AMI communication protocols (e.g., DLMS/COSEM, Zigbee, cellular). Deep understanding of 33/11 kV distribution architecture and network constraints.


The candidate will utilize power system simulation software to model the impact of remote disconnection/reconnection (DCRC) and load-limiting commands on the distribution network.

AMI & Smart Meter Deployment: Manage the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of smart meters and their communication modules.


MDM System Management: Oversee Data Management (MDM) systems to validate, cleanse, and process meter data, ensuring high data availability for billing.

System Integration: Integrate smart meter data with HES, SCADA, billing systems (CIS), and GIS for efficient grid operation.


Key Responsibilities


Simulation & Modelling:


  • Develop and execute simulation models to evaluate the behavior of the distribution network under various load-limiting scenarios.
  • Create Digital Twin models of 33/11 kV networks to test the integration of AMI commands without affecting live grid stability.
  • Perform contingency analysis and voltage stability studies related to remote load management.


AMI Feature Optimization:


  • Conduct technical assessments of AMI system features for remote load-limiting and supply management.
  • Define technical parameters and thresholds for automated current limiting at the meter level.
  • Analyse the interoperability between the Head-End System (HES), Meter Data Management System (MDMS), and the physical distribution assets.


Data-Driven Assessment:


  • Utilize historical demand data and feeder loading reports to perform what-if simulations for peak demand response.
  • Benchmark communication reliability for remote commands through software-based analytics.


Strategic Reporting:


  • Prepare detailed technical reports, calculations, and simulation outputs for submission.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on simulation results for the real-world execution of load management features.
