Senior Merchant Onboarding QA Engineer (7+ Years Experience)

We are seeking a Senior Merchant Onboarding QA Engineer (7+ years experience) to lead and execute quality assurance efforts across the merchant onboarding lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in testing onboarding workflows, API integrations, KYC/KYB validation, payment ecosystem processes, and crossplatform verification.


Functional and Integration Testing

  • Lead and execute testing for endtoend Merchant Onboarding workflows, including registration, document submission, compliance checks, and activation.
  • Validate KYC/KYB steps, including business identity validation, banking information, GST/PAN verification, and risk checks.
  • Perform API testing for onboarding microservices and backend integration layers.
  • Verify merchant lifecycle transitions such as Draft Pending Verified Activated Rejected Suspended.

Payment and Platform Integrations

  • Test integrations with payment gateways, risk engines, CRM systems, dashboards, and onboarding platforms.
  • Validate OTP processes, notifications, verification triggers, and workflow orchestration.
  • Test communication with thirdparty verification APIs (identity, document, and bank validations).

UI/UX and Mobile Testing

  • Validate mobile and web onboarding modules for functional accuracy, usability, and responsive design.
  • Test APK builds for onboarding journeys on multiple devices and OS versions.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare detailed test plans, test cases, and requirement traceability for onboarding features.
  • Log defects with clarity, steps, and data evidence, followed by effective defect triage and retesting.
  • Provide structured test execution summaries and signoff reports.

Automation and Process Improvement

  • Develop automation scripts for repeat onboarding flows (if applicable).
  • Identify gaps in onboarding processes, propose improvements, and strengthen test coverage.
  • Mentor junior QA team members on onboarding systems and quality best practices.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in QA (Manual/Automation) within payments, fintech, or onboarding domains.
  • Deep understanding of merchant onboarding, KYC/KYB, and compliance workflows.
  • Strong hands-on experience with API testing (Postman, Swagger, or similar tools).
  • Proficiency with SQL for backend data validation and audit trail checks.
  • Experience testing web/mobile onboarding flows, document upload processes, and verification modules.
  • Familiarity with fraud/risk checks, onboarding state management, and merchant profiling.
  • Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
