Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and assemblies. The role requires strong technical ownership, hands-on design capability, and the ability to translate functional requirements into reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
This position demands deep mechanical knowledge, practical manufacturing understanding, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating closely with production, quality, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, structures, and assemblies from concept to production.
- Prepare detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, GA drawings, and manufacturing drawings.
- Perform load calculations, stress analysis, and basic structural validation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, safety norms, and industry best practices.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, durability, and ease of installation.
- Review and approve drawings and calculations prepared by junior engineers.
- Identify design risks, failure points, and improvement opportunities early in the development cycle.
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation.
- Troubleshoot design and field issues and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with production, quality, procurement, and installation teams.
- Support project execution with technical clarifications and revisions.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for component development and feasibility.
- Maintain proper design documentation, BOMs, and revision controls.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal engineering guidelines.
- Support preparation of technical datasheets, manuals, and customer documentation.
- Guide and mentor junior design engineers.
- Set engineering best practices and ensure design consistency across projects.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters preferred).
- 610 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design (industrial equipment / automation / material handling / parking systems preferred).
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks / Creo / Inventor .
- Strong understanding of:
- Structural steel design
- Welded and bolted joints
- Hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Manufacturing processes (fabrication, machining, surface treatments)
- Good knowledge of engineering standards (IS, ISO, ASTM, etc.).
- Ability to interpret site constraints and convert them into practical designs.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Clear communication and documentation skills.
- Experience in material handling or automated parking systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, power packs, and control integration.
- Exposure to cost optimization and value engineering.
- Site exposure and coordination experience.
