Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with 57 years of experience in control panel enclosure and mechanical design. The candidate will be responsible for designing control panel enclosures, sheet metal components, and supporting manufacturing processes. The role requires expertise in mechanical design, thermal management, and structural considerations for electrical panels.

Key Responsibilities

• Design control panel enclosures, cabinets, and sheet metal parts for electrical and automation panels.
• Prepare GA drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Develop panel layouts and internal mechanical arrangements for electrical components.
• Ensure proper ventilation, thermal management, and structural strength in panel designs.
• Select suitable materials, sheet metal thickness, and hardware components.
• Coordinate with electrical design engineers to ensure proper component placement and wiring space.
• Work closely with production and fabrication teams to support manufacturing activities.
• Review customer specifications and prepare technical documentation and design calculations.
• Support prototype development, testing, and design improvements.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IEC and IP protection ratings.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication processes
• Experience in control panel enclosure design and layout
• Understanding of IP ratings, ventilation, heat dissipation, and structural design
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as bending, punching, welding, and powder coating
• Ability to interpret electrical layouts and integrate mechanical designs accordingly
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and cross-functional coordination abilities

Software Skills

• SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor for 3D mechanical design
• AutoCAD for fabrication and layout drawings
• Familiarity with sheet metal design modules in CAD software

Education

• Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

• 57 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in control panel manufacturing, switchgear, or industrial enclosures.
