Job Description: Senior Manager - Quality Control 

Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India 

Experience: 10 - 15 years in Jewellery Quality Control,

Reporting to: QA Director, / Chief Supply Chain and Manufacturing Officer 

About the Role: We are seeking a highly experienced and meticulously detail-oriented Senior Manager - Quality Control to lead, manage, and optimize our quality inspection processes across all manufacturing stages for our exquisite jewellery collections in Mumbai. This critical role involves hands-on leadership of the QC team, strategic development of inspection methodologies, and rigorous defect identification and resolution. The ideal candidate will possess an expert understanding of jewellery craftsmanship, precious metals, and gemstones, coupled with a strong ability to drive the detection, analysis, and effective correction of quality issues, ensuring every piece meets our brand's uncompromising standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic QC Operations & Inspection Management

• Develop, implement, and continuously enhance the tactical Quality Control strategies and inspection methodologies across all stages of jewellery production, from incoming raw materials to finished goods.

• Oversee and manage all critical quality inspection checkpoints, ensuring the precise execution of:

• Raw Material Inspection: Verification of precious metal purity (gold, silver, platinum), authenticity, quality, and grading of diamonds and color gemstones.

• In-process QC: Monitoring and inspection at every production step, including casting, filing, soldering, intricate setting, polishing, and plating for adherence to design and quality specifications.

• Pre-Finishing & Finishing QC: Detailed assessment of surface finish, plating uniformity, secure gemstone settings, dimensional accuracy, and overall aesthetic perfection.

• Comprehensive Final Product Inspection: Rigorous examination of design fidelity, weight, gemstone quality (4Cs, identification, treatments), secure functionality (clasps, hinges), and overall craftsmanship before packaging and dispatch.

• Implement and refine statistical sampling plans to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of quality checks without compromising detection rates.

• Drive continuous improvement in defect detection rates and the efficiency of QC processes.

2. Defect Analysis, Root Cause & Corrective Action (CAPA)

• Lead the investigation and comprehensive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for all identified quality defects and non-conformances, collaborating with production and engineering.

• Develop, implement, and monitor effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to eliminate the recurrence of defects.

• Utilize quality control tools such as Pareto charts, control charts, and fishbone diagrams to analyze defect patterns and trends.

• Manage the disposition of non-conforming materials and finished goods, ensuring proper segregation, rework, or rejection processes are followed.

3. Team Leadership, Training & Performance

• Recruit, train, mentor, and lead a high-performing team, fostering their proficiency in advanced inspection techniques, product specifications, and quality standards.

• Develop and deliver targeted training programs for the QC team to enhance their technical expertise in areas like gem identification, metal purity testing, visual inspection standards, and the use of specialized QC equipment.

• Conduct regular performance evaluations for the QC team, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for skill development.

• Instill a culture of precision, accountability, and continuous learning within the QC department.

4. Equipment Management & Calibration

• Oversee the selection, procurement, and optimal functioning of all QC equipment (e.g., microscopes, precision scales, spectrometers, hardness testers, specialized gemological tools).

• Establish and manage a robust calibration program for all measuring and testing equipment to ensure the accuracy and reliability of inspection results.

• Ensure proper maintenance and care of all QC instruments.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

• Serve as a critical link between the QC team and other departments, including Production, Design, and Procurement, 

• Provide immediate and clear feedback to production teams on quality issues, aiding in quick resolution and process adjustments.
