Senior Manager, Book Procurement & Publisher Relations

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager Book Procurement & Publisher Relations to lead purchasing strategy, manage publisher partnerships, and optimize inventory planning across our large-scale distribution business. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the right mix of titles is available, securing favorable terms with publishers, and aligning procurement with sales growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute procurement strategy for frontlist and backlist titles.

Negotiate discounts, credit terms, freight, and returns with publishers and suppliers.

Forecast demand and align inventory planning with sales trends across retail, B2B, and online channels.

Manage publisher relations to secure priority allocations, exclusive deals, and early access to new releases.

Oversee junior procurement staff, ensuring accurate and timely ordering.

Review sales, purchase, and inventory data to optimize working capital and stock turnover.

Present insights and recommendations to leadership on category performance and buying strategy.

Stay updated on publishing market trends, bestseller cycles, and academic adoption patterns.
