About the Job

OCS Services is seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to support the Ruby FPSO Operations. This role will serve as the technical authority for instrumentation and control systems, ensuring reliable performance, operational safety, and regulatory compliance of all control and automation systems across the asset lifecycle.

The position will play a key role in improving system reliability, supporting digitalization initiatives, and ensuring the integrity of process control and safety systems onboard the FPSO.

We are looking for a skilled Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to support day-to-day operations of the Ruby FPSO, ensuring instrumentation, control systems, and automation platforms operate safely and efficiently.

The role will work closely with offshore E&I teams, operations personnel, and technical specialists to maintain the reliability and integrity of control systems, instrumentation networks, and safety systems.


What You Will Do

In this role, you will:

  • Act as the Technical Advisor for Instrumentation & Control systems supporting day-to-day Ruby FPSO operations.
  • Provide input to the Operational Performance Standard (OPS) and maintenance management systems.
  • Continuously monitor FPSO performance and ensure instrumentation and control systems operate within required standards.
  • Ensure efficient maintenance, inspection, and repair of instrumentation and control systems throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Implement Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), lifecycle asset management, and risk management strategies including criticality assessment, bad actor identification, and single point failure analysis.
  • Serve as the focal point for digitalization initiatives related to the Ruby FPSO and associated facilities.
  • Participate in risk assessment studies such as SIL assessments and Safety Critical Element (SCE) reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with class, flag state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and review operational and maintenance procedures for instrumentation and control systems.
  • Coordinate IT-related matters between offshore teams and external service providers.
  • Lead or contribute to incident investigations and root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why Analysis and Taproot.
  • Review and develop Management of Change (MoC) documentation including risk assessments and as-built documentation.
  • Conduct periodic competency assessments of offshore E&I Lead, Instrument Technicians, and DCS Specialists.
  • Maintain and update the Lessons Learned Register based on shutdown reports, audits, investigations, and MoC reviews.
  • Participate in inspections of Ex-rated electrical and instrumentation equipment in coordination with the Electrical Engineer.
  • Review and resolve technical queries raised by offshore teams and clients.
  • Coordinate with vendors and external consultants for technical troubleshooting and field support.


What We Are Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Control Engineering, or Electronics Engineering.
  • Functional Safety certification is desirable.


Experience

  • 15 years of experience in Instrumentation and Control engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years in Upstream Oil & Gas operations.
  • Experience in offshore operations and maintenance (FPSO preferred).
  • Strong experience with DCS / ICSS systems (Honeywell experience is an advantage).
  • Experience working with engineering databases and maintenance management systems.
  • Exposure to offshore commissioning and multidisciplinary operational environments.


Technical Knowledge

  • Strong expertise in ICSS / DCS systems (preferably Honeywell).
  • Knowledge of metering systems, field instrumentation, telecom systems, and communication networks.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area equipment standards such as IEC 60079 and ATEX.
  • CompEx certification for Hazardous Area Installation and Inspection is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of FPSO marine and process systems.
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis using tools such as 5 Why and Taproot.
  • Good knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP or equivalent).
  • Expertise in PLC / DCS control system troubleshooting.

Work Environment

This role requires strong familiarity with instrumentation and control systems onboard FPSOs.

Frequent offshore assignments are expected (approximately once every three months).
