Role Overview

Were hiring our Founding Full Stack Engineer.

Youll be at the core of building and scaling SpatialChat from the ground up. Expect to:

• Own the entire tech stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure)
• Design real-time systems for video, audio, and multiplayer interactions
• Build scalable features for thousands of concurrent users
• Collaborate closely with a small, scrappy team

This is a high-impact role where youll shape the product, own decisions, and ship fast.

Where Youll Make an Impact

• Backend Systems: Scale Node.js microservices for 50M+ monthly interactions
• Real-Time Performance: Optimize WebRTC & WebSockets for <100ms latency
• Enterprise Integrations: Build SAML SSO that passes Fortune 500 audits
• Data Architecture: Design PostgreSQL schemas for 10TB+ interaction data
• Frontend Performance: Render 200+ video streams in Vue.js without dropped frames

Measurable wins:

• Reduce WebSocket overhead by 40%
• Implement Canvas LTI 1.3 with 99.9% uptime
• Increase spatial audio capacity by 4x
• Build admin tools that cut support tickets by 60%

Tech Stack

Frontend: Vue.js 3, TypeScript, Pinia, Vite

Backend: Node.js, Hapi.js, gRPC

Databases: PostgreSQL (primary), MongoDB (spatial data)

Real-time: WebRTC, WebSockets (Agora/LiveKit/Twilio)

Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP

• 5+ years building production applications with TypeScript
• Deep experience with real-time systems (WebRTC, WebSockets)
• PostgreSQL optimization & API design (REST/gRPC)
• Startup mentality: scrappy, self-driven, thrives with ownership
• Bonus: LMS integrations, enterprise authentication (SAML/LDAP), microservices
