Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership and People Management

  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and accountability.
  • Define long-term design strategies, standards, and best practices for scalable project execution.
  • Oversee workforce planning, performance reviews, and competency development within the design function.

2. Design Governance and Technical Excellence

  • Provide technical direction for all stages of design conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations.
  • Approve and validate engineering deliverables, including layouts, single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and civil/structural designs.
  • Ensure adherence to global and national standards (IEC, IS, NEC) and company-specific quality benchmarks.

3. Project Oversight and Collaboration

  • Partner with project execution, procurement, and business development teams to integrate design inputs into project planning and costing.
  • Lead technical due diligence, feasibility assessments, and value engineering initiatives to optimize cost and performance.
  • Ensure timely design approvals, risk mitigation, and smooth transition from design to execution stages.

4. Innovation, Research & Development

  • Drive adoption of emerging technologies, digital tools, and design automation to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Explore advanced PV, hybrid, and energy storage technologies to support the companys renewable energy roadmap.
  • Establish continuous improvement programs to reduce design cycle times and improve project margins.

5. Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Serve as the senior technical representative in client, consultant, and regulatory meetings.
  • Collaborate with vendors and technology partners to evaluate new solutions and innovations.
  • Support proposal development and strategic bids with high-level design inputs and technical documentation.


Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Renewable Energy Engineering (Masters preferred).
  • 13+ years of experience in solar design and engineering, including 5+ years in leadership or departmental head roles.
  • Proficiency in design and simulation tools (PVsyst, AutoCAD, HelioScope, ETAP, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of solar PV technology, grid integration, storage systems, and hybrid configurations.
  • Proven expertise in managing large-scale, multi-site engineering operations.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting, resource planning, and strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
