Senior Design Engineer - Utility Scale

The Big Picture

The Senior Engineer Systems Design will be responsible for overseeing and guiding Solar PV design engineering activities throughout the entire design phase for commercial and utility-scale projects ranging from 1 MW to 100 MW. In addition to technical expertise, this role demands strong leadership, team management, and process-driven thinking to ensure high-quality deliverables and operational excellence.

What you can expect as Senior Engineer Systems Design:

• You'll supervise and mentor a team of design engineers, ensuring alignment with project goals and company standards.
• You'll allocate tasks, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback to drive team performance.
• You'll oversee drafting and design of commercial, industrial, and utility solar PV systems using AutoCAD and other tools, delivering complete design packages for construction and installation.
• You'll review and approve conceptual designs for solar rooftop, carport, ground mount systems (fixed tilt and single-axis tracking), and EV charging stations, including site plans, equipment layouts, single-line diagrams, string sizing, schedules, and bill of quantities.
• You'll establish and maintain organized file systems for drawings and project documents.
• You'll implement best practices and process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
• You'll ensure compliance with company standards, NEC, IBC, and other regulatory requirements.
• You'll anticipate design challenges and proactively develop solutions.
• You'll take ownership of project deliverables, timelines, and quality standards.
• You'll act as the primary point of contact for escalations and stakeholder communication.
• You'll work closely with internal teams and external clients to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met.
• You'll communicate clearly and effectively to maintain high-quality design outputs.

Essential Qualifications:

• Proven experience in AutoCAD and other CAD-based platforms.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in Utility Scale Solar projects for Middle East / Australia / Europe markets.
• Strong ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently while driving team accountability and performance.
