Position Overview

The Design Head will be responsible for leading the complete tool design function including feasibility, concept development, standardization, team supervision, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The role demands strong technical expertise in sheet metal press tool design along with leadership capability.

Education & Experience
  • Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering
  • Minimum 812 years of experience in sheet metal press tool design
  • Strong exposure to stage-wise and progressive tool design
  • Hands-on experience in blank development and strip layout optimization
  • Strong understanding of tool room manufacturing processes

  • CATIA
  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Office
Roles & Responsibilities1. Feasibility & Process Planning
  • Conduct part process feasibility and tolerance feasibility analysis
  • Define process sequence and concept tool design (Stage-wise & Progressive tools)
  • Develop strip layout and optimize material utilization
2. Tool Design & Development
  • Prepare concept design, layouts, and alternate design solutions
  • Perform design calculations and validation
  • Review simulation results and implement necessary changes
  • Design dies, welding fixtures, and gauges
  • Develop blank and trim line
3. Design Review & Release
  • Verify tool/fixture/gauge designs prepared by team members
  • Release final tool design for manufacturing
  • Ensure adherence to internal design standards
4. Tool Manufacturing & Trials
  • Strong knowledge of tool manufacturing process in Tool Room
  • Monitor tool manufacturing progress
  • Participate in tool trials and implement corrective actions
  • Drive process capability improvements
5. Standardization & Cost Optimization
  • Develop tool design standardization to reduce design lead time
  • Standardize practices to reduce manufacturing lead time & production cost
  • Improve strip layout efficiency & material utilization
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Lead DAP (Design Approval Process) with internal teams, customers, and suppliers
  • Coordinate with Tool Room, Production, Quality, and Customer
  • Ensure timely release of tool/fixture/gauge design
7. Leadership & System Management
  • Train and upgrade skills of design team members
  • Audit and maintain system documentation related to design
  • Ensure compliance with customer quality standards
