Senior Data Engineer Experimentation CoE

Experience: 69 Years Team: Experimentation Center of Excellence

Role Summary:

The Senior Data Engineer will play a critical role in building and scaling Albertsons Experimentation and Measurements Platform. This role will design and maintain robust data pipelines, experimentation-ready datasets, and reporting data models that power A/B testing, digital analytics, business reporting, and performance measurement across ecommerce and retail channels.

This individual will work closely with Data Analysts, Product, Digital, Data Sciences and Engineering teams to ensure reliable, high-quality, and scalable data infrastructure that supports both experimentation and enterprise reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for experimentation and reporting use cases
• Develop reusable data models for experimentation (treatment exposure, customer, session, order, store, promotion)
• Build curated, analytics-ready datasets for reporting, dashboards, and KPI tracking
• Ensure accurate and timely data availability for business and experimentation reporting

Reporting & Analytics Enablement:

• Create and maintain data marts optimized for BI tools and self-service analytics
• Partner with Analytics and BI teams to translate reporting requirements into scalable data solutions
• Optimize query performance and warehouse structures for reporting workloads
• Standardize metric definitions and support centralized KPI governance

Cloud & Infrastructure:

• Develop cloud-native data solutions (GCP preferred BigQuery, Dataflow, GCS, Pub/Sub)
• Implement CI/CD and version control for data pipelines
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency of data infrastructure

Experimentation Enablement:

• Enable experiment exposure logging and treatment assignment validation
• Build and maintain pipelines for experiment metric computation (conversion, AOV, retention, engagement, etc.)
• Support clean treatment-control joins and identity stitching across digital and retail data sources

Data Quality & Governance:

• Implement automated data validation checks and monitoring frameworks
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across reporting and experimentation datasets
• Maintain documentation, lineage, and best practices for data assets

Required Qualifications:

• 69 years of experience in Data Engineering
• Strong SQL expertise (advanced querying, optimization, window functions)
• Strong Python experience (data processing, orchestration, automation)
• Experience working in Cloud environments (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable)
• Experience building data models for analytics and reporting
• Experience working with ecommerce or retail data (orders, customer behavior, pricing, promotions)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with Big Query
• Experience with orchestration tools
• Experience supporting A/B testing or experimentation platforms
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures
• Experience building reporting data marts for BI tools (Power BI)
