Job Summary

The Senior Composites Engineer will be responsible for manufacturing and overseeing high-performance UAV composite structures, ensuring quality, structural integrity, and process efficiency. The role requires strong hands-on experience in composite fabrication and in-depth knowledge of aerospace-grade materials used in UAV applications.

Job Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and execute composite fabrication processes including hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, resin infusion, prepreg lay-up, and curing operations.
• Manufacture UAV structural components, molds, tooling, and assemblies as per engineering drawings and laminate schedules.
• Interpret detailed engineering drawings, laminate schedules, and work instructions with accuracy.
• Monitor curing cycles and process parameters to ensure structural integrity and repeatability.
• Perform trimming, bonding, structural assembly, and finishing of composite components.
• Conduct dimensional, visual, and structural inspections to ensure quality compliance.
• Identify manufacturing defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate closely with Design, Quality, and Production teams to improve manufacturability and process efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices in composite material handling and processing.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in composite manufacturing processes.

Technical Knowledge Required

• The candidate must possess strong practical knowledge of materials used in UAV composite structures, including Carbon Fiber, Glass Fiber (E-glass / S-glass), and Aramid Fiber (Kevlar), along with resin systems such as Epoxy, Polyester, and Vinyl Ester. Knowledge of core materials including Nomex/Aluminium Honeycomb and structural foam cores (PVC, PMI, PU), as well as auxiliary consumables used in vacuum bagging and aerospace-grade fabrication processes, is required. The candidate should also have awareness of leading suppliers of composite raw materials and an understanding of industry-standard sourcing practices in the UAV and aerospace sector.

Experience Required

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in composite manufacturing.
• Experience in manufacturing structural composite components is mandatory.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Aeronautical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering / Production Engineering or equivalent.
