About the Role :
The Category Manager Activities & Tours will own the end-to-end performance of assigned travel categories, with complete responsibility for P&L, GMV growth, SKU expansion, pricing, and supplier performance. The role requires a strong balance of commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and execution excellence to scale high-quality travel experiences profitably.
Responsibilities :
Category & P&L Ownership
- Own end-to-end P&L for the Activities & Tours category, including revenue, margins, costs, and profitability.
- Drive GMV growth through strategic assortment planning, pricing, promotions, and demand levers.
- Set category targets (GMV, contribution margin, conversion, take rate) and ensure consistent achievement.
SKU & Assortment Management
- Manage and scale the SKU portfolio across destinations, experience types, and price points.
- Identify gaps in assortment and onboard relevant experiences to improve coverage and customer choice.
- Rationalize underperforming SKUs and optimize listings based on demand, seasonality, and margins.
Supplier & Partner Management
- Build and manage strong relationships with activity operators, tour providers, and aggregators.
- Lead commercial negotiations, contracting, and margin optimization with suppliers.
- Ensure supplier quality, availability, pricing parity, and compliance with platform standards.
Growth & Performance Optimization
- Analyze category performance using key metrics such as GMV, conversion, AOV, margins, cancellations, and customer ratings.
- Work closely with marketing, supply, and ops teams to execute campaigns, deals, and destination-led growth initiatives.
- Optimize pricing, offers, and inventory to maximize sell-through and profitability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Marketing, Product, Operations, Finance, and Analytics teams to drive category success.
- Provide inputs for demand forecasting, campaign planning, and product enhancements.
- Ensure seamless customer experience by aligning supply quality with operational execution.
Market & Consumer Insights
- Track travel trends, customer behavior, competitor offerings, and market pricing.
- Use insights to launch new experiences, improve positioning, and drive category differentiation.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 37 years of experience in category management, marketplace, e-commerce, or travel businesses.
- Experience managing large SKU portfolios and revenue targets is a strong plus.
Required Skills
- Strong ownership mindset with proven experience in P&L and GMV-driven roles.
- Analytical skills with ability to interpret data and translate insights into actions.
- Commercial negotiation and supplier management expertise.
- Understanding of travel, activities, tours, or experience-led marketplaces (preferred).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing large SKU portfolios and revenue targets is a strong plus.
