Senior Backend Engineer – Travel Platform

Were looking for a senior backend engineer to help build the next generation of Kaz Travels internal systems. The role centres on developing the backend that powers our CRM, booking workflows, supplier integrations, payments, reporting, and internal tools.

Youll work closely with our leadership and IT/data team to translate real travel business processes into clean, scalable backend services. This is a hands-on engineering position with long-term growth as we expand our tech capabilities.

• Designing backend architecture for our internal travel platform and CRM
• Creating data models for bookings, customers, ticketing, payments, and accounting
• Building REST APIs for internal teams and future partner/agent portals
• Integrating with major travel industry APIs, including:
• GDS providers
• Bedbanks and wholesalers
• Payment gateways and fraud systems
• Implementing key business logic such as pricing, markups, commissions, refunds, and reconciliation
• Managing cloud deployments, CI/CD pipelines, environments, logging, and monitoring
• Writing clear documentation for schemas, APIs, integrations, and workflows
• Collaborating with our IT manager to plan development cycles and maintain delivery quality
• Establishing technical best practices as our tech team grows

• Solid commercial experience in backend or full stack engineering
• Strong skills in one of the following:
• Node.js / TypeScript
• Python
• C# / .NET
• Excellent SQL skills and experience designing relational schemas
• Proven experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Strong background in integrating external APIs in a structured, maintainable way
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, deployments, CI/CD, and monitoring
• Ability to turn business workflows into clean, working technical solutions

• Experience with travel platforms, booking engines, or finance/operations backends
• Understanding of RBAC, logging, audit trails, and secure system design
• Comfortable using AI tools to speed up development without compromising quality
• Some frontend experience (React or similar) is helpful but not required
