Senior Backend Engineer – Python & Architecture

We are looking for aSenior Backend EngineerPython & Architectureto build and evolve scalable backend systems powering our web applications and Flutter-based mobile apps. This role requires a strong Individual Contributor who can both deliver production-grade code and make sound architectural decisions within their domain. You will work closely with senior technical leadership, but you are expected to operate with high autonomy and technical judgement.

Working Hours:10:30 am to 7:30 pm Indian Standard

Days of work:Monday to Friday

Location:Powai, Mumbai

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services using Python, preferably FastAPI.
• Define API contracts and service boundaries for web and Flutter applications.
• Contribute to backend architecture decisions and system design.
• Translate business requirements into clean, maintainable technical solutions.
• Identify and reduce technical debt.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Docker.
• Optimise performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 6+ years of strong Python backend experience.
• Proven experience building and scaling production APIs.
• Solid understanding of system design and microservices architecture.
• Comfortable making architecture decisions within defined scope.
• Strong knowledge of asynchronous programming.
• Experience with Docker and cloud deployments.
• Ability to think in systems, not just endpoints.
• Strong ownership mindset.

Nice to Have

• Experience building services consumed by mobile applications.
• Exposure to AI or LLM-powered systems.
• Automated testing experience, pytest or similar.
