Senior Backend Developer

Ctruh is looking for a deeply technical, hands-on Senior Backend Engineer - someone who can architect systems in the morning, write production-grade code in the afternoon, and scale infrastructure to power millions of 3D and XR experiences.

You will own the entire backend ecosystem: architecture, APIs, databases, infrastructure, performance, and reliability. This is not an oversight or management-only position - it is a builders role where you design, code, deploy, and optimize mission-critical systems.

You will make foundational decisions, build distributed systems that handle massive 3D processing workloads, and lead our backend engineering direction as we scale globally.

What Youll Build

System Architecture & Design

1. Architect highly scalable backend systems from the ground up
2. Define technology choices: frameworks, databases, queues, caching layers
3. Evaluate microservices vs monoliths based on product stage
4. Design REST, GraphQL, and real-time WebSocket APIs
5. Build event-driven systems for asynchronous processing
6. Architect multi-tenant systems with strict data isolation
7. Maintain architectural documentation and technical specs

Core Backend Services

1. Build high-performance APIs for 3D content, XR experiences, analytics, and user interactions
2. Create 3D asset processing pipelines for uploads, conversions, and optimization
3. Develop distributed job workers for CPU/GPU-intensive tasks
4. Build authentication/authorization systems (RBAC)
5. Implement billing, subscription, and usage metering
6. Build secure webhook systems and third-party integration APIs
7. Create real-time collaboration features via WebSockets/SSE

Data Architecture & Databases

1. Design scalable schemas for 3D metadata, XR sessions, and analytics
2. Model complex product catalogs with variants and hierarchies
3. Implement Redis-based caching strategies
4. Build search and indexing systems (Elasticsearch/Algolia)
5. Architect ETL pipelines and data warehouses
6. Implement sharding, partitioning, and replication strategies
7. Design backup, restore, and disaster recovery workflows

Scalability & Performance

1. Build systems designed for 10x100x traffic growth
2. Implement load balancing, autoscaling, and distributed processing
3. Optimize API response times and database performance
4. Implement global CDN delivery for heavy 3D assets
5. Build rate limiting, throttling, and backpressure mechanisms
6. Optimize storage and retrieval of large 3D files
7. Profile and improve CPU, memory, and network performance

Infrastructure & DevOps

1. Architect AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ElastiCache)
2. Build CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments and rollbacks
3. Use IaC tools (Terraform/CloudFormation) for infra provisioning
4. Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
5. Use Docker + Kubernetes for container orchestration
6. Implement security best practices for data, networks, and secrets
7. Define disaster recovery and business continuity plans

Integration & APIs

1. Build integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento
2. Design webhook systems for real-time events
3. Build SDKs, client libraries, and developer tools
4. Integrate payment gateways (Stripe, Razorpay)
5. Implement SSO and OAuth for enterprise customers
6. Define API versioning and lifecycle/deprecation strategies

Data Processing & Analytics

1. Build analytics pipelines for engagement, conversions, and XR performance
2. Process high-volume event streams at scale
3. Build data warehouses for BI and reporting
4. Develop real-time dashboards and insights systems
5. Implement analytics export pipelines and platform integrations
6. Enable A/B testing and experimentation frameworks
7. Build personalization and recommendation systems

What Were Looking For

1. 5+ years in backend engineering with strong system design expertise
2. Experience building scalable systems from scratch
3. Expert-level proficiency in at least one backend stack (Node, Python, Go, Java)
4. Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservices
5. Strong SQL/NoSQL design skills with performance optimization
6. Hands-on AWS cloud experience
7. Ability to write high-quality production code daily
8. Experience building and scaling RESTful APIs
9. Strong understanding of caching, sharding, horizontal scaling
10. Solid security and best-practice implementation experience
11. Proven leadership and mentoring capability

Highly Desirable

1. Experience with large file processing (3D, video, images)
2. Background in SaaS, multi-tenancy, or e-commerce
3. Experience with real-time systems (WebSockets, streams)
4. Knowledge of ML/AI infrastructure
5. Experience with HA systems, DR planning
6. Familiarity with GraphQL, gRPC, event-driven systems

Youve built systems from the ground up and lived through the growing pains of scaling. You think in systems, evaluate trade-offs clearly, and design architectures that are practical, resilient, and future-proof.

Youre highly comfortable discussing microservices vs monoliths, choosing the right database for a use case, designing APIs, and introducing caching or queues when appropriate. Youve made decisions that you later optimized or re-architected and learned from both.

You stay close to the code. You pair-program, review PRs, jump into production incidents, and ship features alongside your team. You enjoy designing a high-level architecture and then implementing the most critical parts yourself.

You balance ambition with pragmatism. You know when to use managed services, when to build custom solutions, and how to ship iteratively while maintaining system stability.
