About the Role

We are looking for a Senior AWS Platform Engineer (SRE / Financial Systems) with 8+ years of hands-on experience to take complete technical ownership of mission-critical financial systems within a high-pressure investment banking environment.

This is not a traditional support roleit requires a deeply technical engineer who can optimize, automate, and troubleshoot complex platforms end-to-end while driving maturity across infrastructure operations and SRE practices.

The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who can think like an owner, build reliable systems at scale, and ensure stability across both on-premise and AWS environments.

Key Responsibilities:

System Ownership & Reliability

• Own financial systems end-to-end and ensure high availability and uptime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across infrastructure, applications, middleware, and integrations.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and drive permanent fixes to prevent recurring incidents.

Operational Excellence

• Design, implement, and manage Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies; conduct periodic DR drills.
• Oversee OS patching, upgrades, and adherence to security and compliance standards.
• Define and maintain backup and restore processes for mission-critical systems.
• Build monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks for early detection and faster remediation.

SRE & Automation

• Apply Site Reliability Engineering principles to improve performance, resilience, and system stability.
• Automate deployments, operational tasks, failover testing, log analysis, and scaling workflows.
• Develop automation tools and scripts using Python, Shell, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Implement self-healing systems and prepare detailed runbooks for predictable operations.

Cloud & Hybrid Environments

• Engineer and manage systems across on-prem and AWS hybrid environments.
• Work extensively with AWS servicesEC2, ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, VPC, CloudWatch, and more.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to enhance performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience:

Technical Skills

• 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or related roles (financial services preferred).
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Deep SRE experience focused on automation, reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
• Strong Linux/Windows engineering background.
• Advanced scripting and automation skills (Python, Shell, Ansible), and strong Terraform/IaC experience.
• Expertise with monitoring/observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM, VPC design, and security best practices.

Operational Expertise

• Proven experience with patching, upgrades, DR, backup/restore, system hardening, and compliance.
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across applications, middleware, databases, and integrations.
• Familiarity with ITIL frameworksincident, problem, and change management.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to financial/trading systems such as Front Arena, Calypso, Murex, etc.
• Experience with performance tuning, automation-led operations, and highly available environments.
