About Us:
At WPP, we are the creative transformation company, with operations in over 100 markets worldwide. Our London-based Group Reporting team is responsible for consolidating financial results across all entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial statements. To support our continued growth and enhance efficiency, we are establishing a dedicated offshore intercompany group reporting team in Mumbai, to support with the intercompany consolidation process.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant specializing in Intercompany consolidation accounting to join our newly formed Intercompany Group Reporting team in Financeplus India. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our group consolidation ensuring that intercompany balances and transactions across our reporting units eliminate. You will work closely with our London-based Group Reporting team, playing a key role in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, and contributing significantly to the overall consistency in reporting of intercompany transactions. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to build strong relationships with international colleagues and contribute to a global finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
Intercompany Reconciliation & Elimination:
· Perform timely and accurate reconciliation of intercompany balances (trading receivables/payables, loans, cashpooling) across reporting units worldwide.
· Investigate and resolve intercompany mismatches and disputes in collaboration with various finance teams globally.
· Prepare group level intercompany elimination journals during the month/quarter/year-end close process to ensure accurate consolidated financial statements.
Reporting & Analysis:
· Generate and analyse intercompany reports to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement.
· Assist the onshore Intercompany Group Reporting team with ad-hoc analysis and reporting requests related to intercompany transactions.
· Contribute to the preparation of analysis, files and control documentation for external audit purposes.
Process Improvement & Standardization:
· Identify opportunities to streamline and automate intercompany accounting processes, working closely with the onshore Group Reporting team and Network finance teams
· Develop and maintain process documentation and guidance for intercompany reporting.
· Ensure adherence to global accounting policies and procedures related to intercompany transactions.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
· Act as a point of contact for intercompany queries from reporting units worldwide and financeplus teams involved with intercompany reporting.
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with finance professionals across different Networks and WPP HQ.
· Effectively communicate complex intercompany issues and resolutions to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
System Utilization:
· Use WPP’s consolidation system BFC (SAP-system) for intercompany analysis and reporting.
· Understand ERP’s used by reporting units worldwide to support with resolving intercompany reporting issues.
Skills & Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Charted accounting qualification essential.
· 6+ years of accounting experience, Big Four (client-facing) experience within this experience is essential.
· Strong understanding of IFRS or US GAAP accounting principles, particularly as they relate to intercompany transactions and consolidation.
· Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex formulas) is essential.
· Hands-on experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics 365) preferrable.
· Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in English, with the ability to articulate complex financial information clearly and concisely to a global audience.
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Proactive, self-starter with a strong work ethic and a collaborative team-player attitude.
· Flexibility to work in shifts that overlap with UK business hours (and US business hours where/if required).
