We are hiring an experienced SDET Backend/API Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Rest Assured and API automation to ensure quality at scale.

Role Overview

As an SDET focused on backend testing, you will design and build automation frameworks for REST APIs, microservices, and integrations across our ecommerce platform. You will collaborate closely with backend developers and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality, reliable releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop API automation frameworks using Rest Assured
• Automate testing of ecommerce backend services (catalog, cart, checkout, payments, orders)
• Validate API responses, schema, security, and business logic
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and contract testing
• Build reusable utilities and test libraries
• Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines
• Perform database validations and data integrity checks
• Identify defects early in the SDLC and work with developers on fixes
• Participate in sprint planning, test strategy, and release readiness
• Improve test coverage and quality processes continuously

Technical Skills Required

Core Skills

• Strong programming in Java
• Hands-on experience with Rest Assured for API automation
• Experience testing REST APIs & Microservices
• Knowledge of JSON, XML, HTTP protocols, OAuth, JWT
• Experience with TestNG / JUnit

Framework & Tools

• Experience building API automation frameworks (BDD / Hybrid / Data-driven)
• Knowledge of Cucumber BDD
• CI/CD integration using Jenkins / GitHub Actions / GitLab CI
• Version control using Git

Database & Backend Validation

• Strong SQL skills (MySQL / PostgreSQL / MongoDB)
• Experience validating backend data consistency
• Knowledge of mocking tools (WireMock, Mockito)

Performance & Reliability

• Basic experience with JMeter / Gatling for API load testing
• Understanding of distributed systems & event-driven architecture

Preferred Ecommerce Experience

• Testing of checkout, cart, pricing, discount engine, order lifecycle
• Payment gateway testing experience
• Experience with high-volume transaction systems
• Knowledge of fraud detection and payment flows

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and debugging skills
• Ability to work in Agile/Scrum teams
• Good communication with developers & product teams
• Ownership mindset and attention to detail

Qualifications

• B.Tech / MCA in Computer Science or related field
• 46 years in QA Automation / SDET role
• Experience in product-based or ecommerce company preferred
