SCM ENGINEER – SOURCING & SUPPLY CHAIN (HIGH PRECISION / AEROSPACE)

Role

Green Aero Propulsion is seeking an SCM Engineer to build, own, and scale the end-to-end supply chain for high-precision aerospace components. This role carries full responsibility for vendor discovery, development, qualification, sourcing, and the complete procure-to-pay (P2P) cycle.

This position is ideal for professionals who have worked in startups or high-growth environments, are comfortable operating with limited structure, and are willing to spend extended time at vendor locations to ensure quality, delivery, and execution excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and record all incoming materials, tools, and consumables as per purchase orders and delivery challans.
• Issue materials to production/maintenance as per approved indents and update stock records immediately.
• Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels, monitor slow-moving and critical items, and prepare regular stock status reports.
• Conduct periodic physical stock verification, investigate variances, and reconcile them with system records.
• Organize the store layout and ensure proper tagging, binning, and storage of materials, following FEFO/FIFO where applicable.
• Coordinate with vendors, transporters, and internal teams for inbound and outbound logistics, including material dispatch and returns.
• Plan and track shipments, and prepare and verify documentation (e.g., delivery challans, invoice copies, e-way bill inputs, packing lists) for dispatch.
• Follow up on delivery status, handle delays or damages, and maintain records of freight and transport costs.
• Conduct technical and commercial vendor assessments covering capability, capacity, quality systems (AS9100 / ISO 9001), lead time, and cost competitiveness.
• Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to convert design requirements into supplier-ready specifications and support design-for-manufacturability (DFM) discussions.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of high-value, critical, and safety-sensitive items.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety in stores and loading/unloading areas.

Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma or bachelors degree, preferably in logistics, supply chain, mechanical, or related field.
• 2+ years experience in stores, warehouse, or logistics operations, preferably in manufacturing/engineering.
• Working knowledge of inventory or ERP software (e.g., Tally/ERP/Excel) and basic MS Office.
• Good coordination, communication, and vendor follow-up skills; comfort with documentation and record-keeping.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership over the supplier ecosystem.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes in aerospace and hydrogen propulsion.
• Comfort working in an unstructured, fast-paced startup environment.
• Strong execution focus with the ability to contribute to long-term organizational growth.
