Job Description

About Us:

About Us: Omnipresent Robot Technologies is a leading Indian company in robotics, drones, and space technology, with over 14 years of experience in developing smart unmanned systems. Backed by a strong R&D team with expertise in AI, electronics, robotics, and space engineering, the company was founded by alumni of UC Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon University. Its solutions have been used in agriculture, surveillance, industrial inspection, mapping, and increasingly in AI-driven automation and space systems. A major highlight is its contribution to ISROs Chandrayaan-3 mission, where Omnipresent provided vision-based autonomy software for the Pragyaan rover, enabling it to navigate and build 3D maps of the Moons surface with limited sensorsplaying a crucial role in the mission's success.

Omnipresent has also been recognized with the ADITI Award from the Indian Army for developing a SAR-based sensor and delivering high-resolution elevation maps for defense and also awarded IDEX DISC Award to build AI-powered onboard change detection module using multi-sensor imagery. Today, Omnipresent continues to build cutting-edge solutions in AI, robotics, and space tech, serving both national and global needs while leading India's deep-tech innovation ecosystem.

Role Overview:

A Satellite Avionics Engineer for guidance and navigation is responsible for the design, development, integration, testing, and validation of avionics systems that monitor, control and operate a satellite throughout its mission lifecycle. The role focuses on ensuring reliable communication, power management, guidance, navigation and control (GNC), onboard computing, and fault-tolerant operations in the space environment. The engineer works closely with systems, payload, propulsion, and ground-segment teams to deliver robust, mission-ready satellite subsystems that meet performance, safety, and space-qualification standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms for orbit determination, attitude determination, and maneuver planning.
  • Integrate and manage navigation sensors such as star trackers, gyroscopes, sun sensors, GPS/GNSS receivers, and accelerometers.
  • Develop sensor fusion and state estimation techniques (e.g., Kalman filtering) for accurate position and attitude knowledge.
  • Support onboard computer and avionics interfaces for real-time GNC processing and data handling.
  • Perform simulation, modeling, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to validate GNC performance.
  • Analyze navigation accuracy, error budgets, and performance margins across mission phases.
  • Support orbit maneuvers, attitude control strategies, and contingency operations.
  • Ensure compliance with mission requirements, reliability, and space qualification standards.
  • Support environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC) and qualification campaigns of the designed and integrated projects.
  • Develop and maintain schematics, PCB designs, and interface control documents (ICDs).
  • Ensure compliance with space-grade standards, mission requirements, and reliability expectations.
  • Support launch preparation and on-orbit commissioning activities as required.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or MTech in Physics, Optical Engineering, Power electronics, Aerodynamics & Flight Mechanism, Machine Learning & computing, Aerospace Engineering, Thermal and Propulsion or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of satellite subsystems (ADCS, power, thermal, propulsion, TT&C, single, dual frequency navigation subsystems).
  • Experience with satellite command and control systems and ground station operations.
  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics, spacecraft dynamics, and mission operations concepts.
  • Ability to analyze telemetry and troubleshoot spacecraft anomalies.
  • Familiarity with space mission standards and operational best practices.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and coordination skills.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and deep space technology and robotics
  • Exposure to a startup culture with a focus on innovation and creativity.
