1. Function Context

1.1 Positioning

• Position: SAP Basis Expert
• Supervisory Role: No

1.2 Purpose of the Role

ArcelorMittal is looking for 3 SAP Basis Administrators with more than 10 years of experience in SAP ECC and S/4 HANA environments, working with the following databases and platforms:

• HANA DB
• Oracle
• ASE
• AIX / Linux

The role involves close collaboration and deep partnership with internal and external IT teams.

The scope of responsibilities covers ArcelorMittal Flat Europe projects and services in complex and critical SOX SAP environments.

2. Key Responsibilities

SAP Basis Administration

• Support multiple application teams for Basis administration of critical SAP landscapes
• Implement new demands, including:
• Support migrations and upgrades
• Migration to public cloud
• SPS management
• Database upgrades
• Upgrades to HANA
• Kernel upgrades
• Printer implementation and support
• Support SAP on Azure
• Diagnose and solve complex problems
• Apply practical knowledge across all Basis-related tasks

SAP Security

• Evaluate and implement Basis-related SAP Security Notes and SAP Hot News on a monthly basis

Release & System Management

• Support application periodic release cycles
• Perform and support system refreshes (system copies)

Performance Tuning

• System performance tuning, including support for application teams in tuning jobs and in-house ABAP code
• Evaluate and adjust HANA DB optimization for critical and high-consuming queries
• Manage performance of copied production environments on smaller hardware
• Implement archiving
• Tune systems with large HANA databases to run on smaller hardware
• Clean up HANA databases after system copies

Monitoring

• Daily system monitoring, including:
• Application server and DB server issues
• Dump analysis
• Update error analysis
• Periodic evaluation of EWAs, including performance-related issues
• Work with internal and external teams to fix issues reported by EWAs

Incident & Demand Management

• Manage incidents, problems, and demands from application teams

SAP System Support

• SAP Web Dispatchers
• SAP Java systems
• SAP PI/PO systems
• Business Objects
• Content Server
• TREX
• LiveCache
• APO

Connectivity & Integration

• Support connectivity to SAP systems, including:
• RFCs
• Web services
• SSO
• IDocs and interfaces to other systems
• Connectivity to SAP Cloud services, including secure SAP BTP services
• Connectivity to and from SAP Cloud

Security & Compliance (SOX)

• Enhance and implement security requirements for SAP systems
• Design secure architectures for new demands
• Manage and support SAP GUI implementation and SAP Logon XML configurations
• Manage users and authorizations on HANA databases
• Work in a SOX environment and follow SOX processes
• SOX ITGC knowledge required

SAP Archiving

• Implement and manage SAP Archiving

Application Support

• Support application teams with architecture design from an infrastructure/Basis perspective
• Support ad-hoc SOX requirements

• Knowledge of ABAP development to support application teams, including performance tuning
• Change management across multiple teams, especially in SOX environments with multiple stakeholders
• Use of ticketing tools such as SNOW, SOLMAN, etc.
• Good knowledge of ITGC controls and SOX principles

3.4 Preferred Technical Competencies

• PMI / Agile project management skills (plus)

4. Requirements

Education

• Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Masters degree is a plus

Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure in an SAP Basis role
