Job Description Summary

The position is for an experienced and highly organized Salesforce.com Deployment/Release Manager to oversee the end-to-end deployment process for Salesforce applications and updates. The Salesforce Deployment/Release Manager will be responsible for coordinating deployment activities, managing release schedules, and ensuring that Salesforce solutions are deployed seamlessly across various environments, including development, QA, UAT, and production. The role requires expertise in Salesforce deployment tools, version control, and an in-depth understanding of best practices in Salesforce application management.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deployment Planning & Coordination:
    • Lead and manage the deployment process for Salesforce releases, ensuring detailed plans are in place for each deployment phase.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, developers, and QA teams to align deployment schedules with project timelines and organizational priorities.
    • Develop and communicate deployment schedules and strategies to ensure minimal business disruption during deployment windows.
  • Release Management:
    • Oversee the complete lifecycle of Salesforce releases, ensuring that all features, bug fixes, and updates are successfully deployed across sandboxes, staging environments, and production.
    • Ensure deployments are aligned with organizational change management processes and compliance standards.
  • Deployment Execution:
    • Manage the technical execution of Salesforce deployments, using tools such as Salesforce Change Sets, Salesforce DX, ANT Migration Tool, and other related deployment tools (Flosum, Copado, etc.).
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the deployment process, ensuring smooth transitions from one environment to another.
  • Version Control & Configuration Management:
    • Supervise version control practices, ensuring proper branching strategies and consistency across development, testing, and production environments.
    • Collaborate with developers to ensure all configurations, metadata, and data are correctly versioned and ready for deployment.
  • Risk & Issue Management:
    • Identify potential risks and challenges in the deployment process, working to mitigate these risks through proactive planning and clear communication.
    • Maintain rollback plans for each release, ensuring that deployments can be quickly reversed if needed.
  • Post-Deployment Support & Monitoring:
    • Lead post-deployment activities, including monitoring the deployment’s success and addressing any post-release issues that arise.
    • Provide timely resolution for any critical incidents and escalate issues when necessary to ensure minimal impact on business operations.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all deployment-related inquiries, providing status updates and ensuring transparent communication with all stakeholders.
    • Work closely with Salesforce developers, business analysts, and IT teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of Salesforce solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Evaluate current deployment practices, identifying opportunities to streamline and automate deployment workflows for greater efficiency.
    • Drive the adoption of deployment best practices and tools to continuously improve the deployment process.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:
    • Document deployment processes, configurations, and procedures to ensure that deployments can be replicated or reviewed in the future.
    • Create detailed release notes, deployment checklists, and post-release reports for stakeholders.
