Job Title: Robotics Engineer (AUV & ROV Systems)

Location: Bengaluru / On-site (with field deployments)

Experience: 24 years (flexible for exceptional candidates)

Role Overview

We are looking for aRobotics Engineer who can workacross software and hardware layers ofAutonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) .

This role involvesdesigning, integrating, and deploying robotic systems for underwater autonomy, with strong ownership overROS-based architectures, sensor fusion, and system integration .

You will work closely withmechanical, electronics, autonomy, and product teams , taking systems fromlab to water .

Key Responsibilities Robotics Software & Autonomy
  • Design, develop, and maintainROS / ROS2-based architectures for AUVs and ROVs
  • Implementsensor fusion pipelines using IMU, DVL, depth sensors, cameras, sonar, GPS (surface), etc.
  • Develop and integratenavigation, localization, and state estimation algorithms
  • Work onreal-time robotics middleware , data pipelines, and mission control interfaces
  • Support autonomy levels ranging fromteleoperated to semi-autonomous and autonomous modes
Robotics Hardware & Integration
  • Ownend-to-end robotic system integration (software electronics sensors mechanical)
  • Leadrobotics sensor selection , benchmarking, and validation (IMUs, DVLs, sonars, cameras, pressure sensors, acoustic modems)
  • Interface with vendors forsensor evaluation, procurement, and finalisation
  • Support electrical integration with flight controllers, SBCs, power systems, and comms modules
  • Assist inwaterproofing, pressure tolerance, and field readiness considerations
Testing, Deployment & Debugging
  • Plan and executelab tests, pool trials, and field deployments
  • Debug complexhardwaresoftware interaction issues
  • Analyse logs, sensor data, and mission results to improve system performance
  • Supportsystem validation, reliability testing, and failure analysis
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely withmechanical, electronics, AI, and product teams
  • Translate mission requirements intorobotics system specifications
  • Contribute tosystem architecture decisions and design reviews
  • Document system behaviour, interfaces, and operational procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications Must-Have
  • Strong experience withROS / ROS2
  • Hands-on experience withrobotics sensor fusion (IMU + DVL + depth + vision/sonar)
  • Proficiency inC++ and/or Python
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Kinematics & dynamics
  • Localization & navigation
  • Control systems
  • Experience integratingreal-world robotic hardware
  • Comfortable working withembedded systems, SBCs, and flight controllers
Good-to-Have (Strong Advantage)
  • Prior experience withAUVs, ROVs, USVs, drones, or field robotics
  • Experience withunderwater sensors (DVL, imaging sonar, acoustic comms)
  • Familiarity withPX4 / ArduPilot or similar autopilots
  • Exposure tomarine environments, field robotics, or defence systems
  • Experience working withGit, CI/CD, and structured testing workflows
