Robotics Intern Robotic Arm Systems


Department: Robotics Research & Development

Employment Type: Internship (Full-Time)

Duration: 36 Months

Location: On-site / Hybrid



Job Summary


We are seeking a highly motivated Robotics Intern to work on the design, development, programming, and integration of robotic arm systems from scratch. The intern will gain hands-on experience across mechanical design, electronics, kinematics, control systems, and software, contributing to real-world robotic arm applications.



Roles & Responsibilities



Robotic Arm Fundamentals

Study and understand robotic arm architectures (Cartesian, SCARA, articulated, 6-DOF)

Learn concepts of degrees of freedom (DOF), payload, reach, workspace, and repeatability

Understand industrial robotic arm standards and applications




Mechanical Design

Assist in the design of robotic arm structures, joints, and mounting systems

Perform basic torque, load, and motion calculations

Work with CAD software such as SolidWorks / Fusion 360

Support assembly, alignment, and mechanical troubleshooting




Actuators & Sensors

Work with servo motors, stepper motors, and BLDC motors

Understand motor drivers, encoders, limit switches, and safety interlocks

Assist in motor selection based on application requirements


Electronics & Hardware Integration

Work with microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico)

Interface motor drivers, sensors, and power systems

Support wiring, grounding, and electrical safety practices




Control Systems & Kinematics

Learn and implement forward and inverse kinematics

Assist in joint-space and Cartesian-space motion control

Implement basic trajectory planning and PID control




Programming & Software

Develop control logic using C/C++ or Python

Interface robotic arm with PC-based software

Exposure to ROS / ROS2 concepts (nodes, topics, TF, MoveIt basic level)


Testing & Documentation

Perform calibration, homing, and repeatability testing

Assist in debugging mechanical, electrical, and software issues

Maintain technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and test reports



Required Skills & Qualifications

Pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Robotics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics, or Automation

Basic understanding of robotics or mechatronics concepts

Familiarity with programming fundamentals (C/C++ or Python)

Willingness to learn hands-on hardware development

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills



Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

Experience with robotic arms or automation projects

Exposure to ROS / ROS2

Knowledge of CAD tools

Basic understanding of control systems or PID
