Rive Animator

We're building AiRA , a personal AI that lives on your phone as an animated character. She takes up 60% of the screen. She reacts in real time when you talk to her. She's the first thing you see when you open the app.

She's a robot. No mouth. Everything she communicates , thinking, listening, excitement, concern , comes through her eyes, posture, and small mechanical movements.

Potentially millions of people will wake up to her every morning. Your job is to make her feel alive.

What you'll do

Work in Rive, full-time. Build and iterate on AiRA's animation states , idle, listening, thinking, speaking, emotions, transitions between them. The founder (me) will art-direct you closely. Expect tight feedback loops: build something, show it, hear "the eyes need to hold 200ms longer," adjust, repeat. Several rounds a day.

You'll also work with engineers who hook your Rive state machines into the AI backend. Your files need clean states, inputs, and transitions that code can drive.

Must-haves

• Rive experience. You've used it , built something in it, rigged something, played with state machines. Doesn't need to be professional work. Personal projects count. But "I've heard of it" doesn't.
• You can draw characters. Show us vector character work. We need someone who can take a reference and redraw it cleanly with personality intact.
• You've animated before. Keyframes, timing, easing , you've done it somewhere. School, personal work, game jams, freelance, whatever.
• You understand state machines or can learn them fast. States, transitions, inputs, layers. If you've used Rive's state machine editor, Spine, or Unity Animator, you already know this.

Good to have

• Illustrator / Figma for vector work
• Any interactive or game animation experience
• Understanding of how animation connects to code

Not required

• A degree
• After Effects, 3D, or lip sync experience
• Years of professional experience , portfolio is what matters
