Research Development Laboratory Technician

We are excited to announce an urgent opening at NiceCoat India for a highly skilled Lab Manager (R&D & Quality Control) based in Rajkot.

This is a critical technical leadership role. We are not looking for a general lab technician we need a Powder Coating Specialist who can seamlessly bridge R&D innovation and stringent Quality Control operations.

Role: Lab Manager (R&D & QC)

Location: Rajkot, Gujarat (On-site)

Experience: 37 Years (Strictly in Powder Coating Industry)

Education:

• B.Sc / M.Sc in Chemistry
• OR
• B.Tech in Paint Technology / Chemical Technology

This role demands deep expertise in powder coating formulations, shade development, defect analysis, and lab leadership. You will lead both innovation (new shades & finishes) and ensure production batches meet master quality standards.

• Develop new shades and finishes: Metallic, Texture, Antique, High-Gloss
• Improve existing formulations for performance & cost optimization
• Work closely with production to scale lab formulations to plant batches

• Verify production batches against master standards
• Authorize and validate Batch TC Reports
• Ensure strict adherence to QC protocols

• Conduct raw material testing
• Perform performance testing:
• Chemical resistance
• Outdoor durability
• Mechanical properties

• Manage oven calibration
• Monitor particle size distribution
• Troubleshoot application & curing-related defects

Only candidates currently working in the Powder Coating Industry will be considered.

Profiles from liquid paints, inks, plastics, adhesives, or other coating segments will NOT be evaluated.

Color Mastery

• Advanced manual & digital shade matching
• Strong understanding of Lab values (L, a, b*)**
• Hands-on experience with Delta E calculations

Equipment Proficiency

• Spectrophotometer operation & calibration
• Salt Spray chamber testing
• Cupping Test machine handling

Formulation Expertise

• Hands-on formulation adjustment in:
• Polyester systems
• Epoxy systems
• Hybrid systems
• Proven ability to resolve production defects:
• Orange peel
• Pinholes
• Gloss variation
• Film defects

Production & Defect Troubleshooting

• Root cause analysis of coating failures
• Batch correction capability before dispatch approval

• Technically strong and detail-oriented
• Hands-on leader with lab ownership mindset
• Confident in dealing with production, sales & management teams
• Data-driven decision-maker
