PARI, under the aegis of Learning in Geography, Humanities, Technology, and Science (LIGHTS), organises senior governmental training. LIGHTS, the parent organisation, has been advancing scientific education since 2003, with a focus on knowledge and wisdom for societal progress. It publishes scientific books and magazines on India's untold science history. Known for delivering technical education to schools and colleges, it has also significantly strengthened capability-enhancement among educators and professionals. LIGHTS organises high-level workshops and conferences, such as the reputable Science and Geopolitics of Arctic-Antarctic (SaGAA), and shapes public policy, particularly in cryospheric sciences. About the Role
A Research Assistant at LIGHTS-PARI will support interdisciplinary research initiatives, proposal writing and presentation, as well as research-based outreach activities. The role requires a diverse academic background, strong capabilities to raise queries, and the ability to coordinate effectively with educational institutions and stakeholders. The Research Assistant will contribute to both research design and on-ground implementation of programmes.
We are seeking dynamic and motivated individuals. This position involves conducting qualitative and quantitative research, book chapterisation, chapter writing, engaging with leadership and administrators, organising awareness activities, and ensuring smooth project execution. The ideal candidate must be comfortable balancing research responsibilities with coordination and management tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Analysis
Conduct literature reviews and background research for books and other projects
Assist in designing surveys, questionnaires, and data collection tools.
Collect, organise, and analyse data using appropriate research methods.
Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations summarising findings and recommendations.
Project Management and Coordination
Support planning and scheduling of project activities.
Track timelines, deliverables, and documentation.
Maintain organised records of research data, communications, and reports.
Assist in monitoring and evaluating project progress.
Skills Needed
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Organisational and time-management skills.
High ethical standards, especially when working with minors and sensitive topics.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
Masters degree in English, History, Anthropology, Geography and Sociology.
Demonstrated interest or experience in book/ research writing.
Experience in research assistance, project coordination, or outreach roles is desirable.
Salary
Between INR 35,000 and 45,000 per month (in hand), based on experience.
Approximately 12 years of experience qualify you for the Junior Research Assistant role.
- 3+ years of experience qualify you for the Senior Research Assistant role.
