Qualification
Diploma / BE / B. Tech in Electrical or Power Engineering
Relevant training or certification in protection relays (preferred)
Job Location: Factory / Project Sites (India & overseas, as applicable)
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Relay Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in
protection relay programming, configuration, testing, and commissioning, particularly
Schneider Electric protection relays. The candidate should have in-depth application
knowledge and strong troubleshooting skills across industrial and utility power systems.
Key Responsibilities
Programming, configuration, and parameter setting of Schneider Electric
protection relays
Testing and commissioning of protection relays for:
o Feeders, Transformers, Motors, Generators, Busbars
Perform secondary injection testing, logic verification, and functional testing
Develop and verify protection schemes, interlocks, and trip logic
Carry out relay coordination studies support and implement approved settings
Troubleshoot relay, wiring, communication, and protection mal-operations
Support FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities
Interface with PCC, MCC, and MV switchgear panels during testing and
commissioning
Work with communication protocols such as Modbus, IEC 61850, IEC 60870 (basic
exposure)
Prepare and review:
Relay settings files
Test reports
Commissioning documentation
Coordinate with customers, consultants, and site teams during project execution
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Schneider Electric Protection Relays, such as:
Micom Relays ( all series)
Easergy series (P3, P5, Sepam, etc.)
Also, ABB, GE, Siemens relays expertise is required for any retrofit purpose
In-depth understanding of:
Overcurrent, Earth Fault, Differential, REF, Distance, and Motor protections
Experience in relay logic configuration and troubleshooting
Good understanding of MV/LV power systems and protection philosophy
Ability to read and interpret SLD, protection schematics, and control drawings
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Awareness of electrical safety and commissioning best practices
Preferred Skills (Good to Have)
Experience with other OEM relays (ABB / Siemens / GE / SEL) is must
Knowledge of numerical relay testing tools (OMICRON / Megger / equivalent)
Exposure to SCADA integration and substation automation
Site commissioning experience in industrial plants, utilities, or EPC projects
Salary: As per industry standards (Negotiable based on experience)
Notice Period: Immediate / Short notice preferred
