About the Role

We're supporting a feasibility project evaluating how quantum gravimeters and magnetometers can be used to detect subsurface defects in transport infrastructure. You'll lead the physics modelling, simulation work, and sensor interpretation, collaborating closely with a Data Scientist, Geophysicist, and an academic quantum expert.

What You'll Do

• Build forward models for quantum gravimeter and magnetometer responses
• Create physics-accurate simulations and synthetic datasets
• Analyse sensor behaviour, noise characteristics, and environmental effects
• Support calibration and validation work with partner labs (remote collaboration)
• Define detection thresholds and contribute to the final feasibility report

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience in quantum sensing, atomic physics, cold-atom interferometry, or atomic magnetometry
• Strong background in physics modelling and scientific computing (Python/MATLAB)
• Understanding of gravity and magnetic field behaviour relevant to subsurface structures
• Experience analysing noisy scientific signals (FFT, PSD, filtering)
• Clear technical communication and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
