What Youll Be Doing (position summary):

The Quality Engineering Consultant is accountable for leading and managing quality engineering and assurance activities across a program, workstream, or multiple projects/initiatives This role ensures the development, execution, and continuous improvement of test strategies, plans, automation, and quality standards to support the delivery of high-quality technology solutions The incumbent adds value by driving best practices, compliance, and innovation in software testing, while leading and developing a team of test analysts to achieve organizational objectives.

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):

  • Develop, publish, manage, and execute test strategies, test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, automation scripts, status reports, defect logs, and exit reports.
  • Identify and obtain required test data and test environments.
  • Develop, publish, and manage testing estimates and financials.
  • Manage and lead the testing activities of a workstream, program, or multiple projects/initiatives.
  • Lead a team of test analysts, including capacity management, performance management related to assigned projects/initiatives, productivity and quality of the teams work, and required compliance.
  • Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QE standards and support the implementation of new standards.
  • Recognize and identify areas where policies, processes, procedures, tools/methodologies need to be changed or developed, or can be improved Identify and implement continuous improvements.
  • Track and report QA/QE metrics and KPIs such as velocity, defect slippage, etc.
  • Identify, manage, and implement remediation for any noncompliance items and deviations.
  • Provide technical input and feedback on design, assess impact to testing, and find QA automation solutions based on the solution being implemented.
  • Identify and implement automation, AI, or other emerging solutions to expedite testing, improve quality, and reduce costs.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of software quality assurance, quality management, and problem-solving methodologies.


Experience: 7+ Years of experience

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Banking applications, API/Webservices REST and SOAP, DB SQL/non-SQL, and Batch testing automation.
  • Experience with middle-tier testing is preferred, particularly with consumer-provider integrations using REST, SOAP, files, batch, asynchronous message-broker, publisher/subscriber, Enterprise Service Bus, MQs, Solace and internal integration with multiple middle or backend (db) modules.
  • Ability to understand environment configurations, integration patterns, communications protocols, and debug connections issues.
  • Experienced in troubleshooting logical-level integration issues, such as incorrect business logic, data transformation errors, or workflow inconsistencies across integrated modules, collaborating with development and QA teams to resolve integration defects at both the contract and logical levels.


Must Have Skills:

  • Web Services testing (REST and SOAP).
  • Automation using API/Web Services test tools (e.g., ParaSoft, SOAtest) and extension libraries (Jython, Java, Python).
  • Database testing (SQL and NoSQL) and batch testing automation.
  • Writing and executing automation test cases, developing custom functions, and building repositories for API testing.
  • Test management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to resolve operational or process issues.
  • Ability to identify and implement continuous improvements in testing processes.
  • Analytical skills including root cause analysis, automation framework design, and quality management methods.


Good to have Skills:

  • Experience with API testing protocols (gRPC, REST, SOAP) and API testing tools (Parasoft SOAtest, Postman, Swagger/Open API, Insomnia).
  • Expertise in XML/XSLT/JSON/Swagger and related technologies (WSDL, XSLTs, XPATHs, XMLSpy).
  • Messaging queue experience (MQ, Solace) and network/security protocol testing.
  • Proficiency with SMS and mobile messaging testing tools (e.g., Perfecto).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for APIs, batch processes, and databases.
  • Database experience: SQL (Oracle, Azure), NoSQL (MongoDB), and database tools (DB Visualizer, SQL Management Studio, TOAD, SQL Developer).
  • Data migration testing and UNIX/batch testing (running and verifying batch jobs, reports, data loads).
  • Proficiency in programming and automation scripting languages (Java, Python, Jython).
  • Experience with software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile), SDLC documentation, test management tools (ALM, Jira, Confluence), version control (Git, GitHub Copilot), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, JUnit/TestNG), and understanding of API protocols, standards, and banking system integrations.
  • Evaluating systems, software packages, and tools for functionality and quality.
