Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Manager
Department: Quality
Reports to: Head Quality / Plant Head
Location: Daman
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager from the lubricant manufacturing industry to lead and manage the Quality Control function. The role is responsible for ensuring consistent product quality, compliance with applicable standards, effective implementation of QMS, and continuous improvement across laboratory and production processes. The QC Manager will play a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Control Management
- Lead and manage the Quality Control laboratory for automotive and industrial lubricants.
- Ensure quality assurance of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products as per defined specifications.
- Approve test results, Certificates of Analysis (COA), and release of finished goods.
2. QMS Implementation & Compliance
- Implement, maintain, and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 and applicable regulatory standards.
- Ensure proper documentation, control, and maintenance of SOPs, quality manuals, and records.
3. Testing & Standards
- Ensure lubricant testing as per ASTM, IP, DIN, and BIS standards.
- Monitor calibration, validation, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Apply statistical quality tools for data analysis and trend monitoring.
4. Audits & Regulatory Requirements
- Plan and conduct internal audits and support external, customer, and certification audits.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations with effective CAPA.
- Maintain readiness for regulatory inspections and customer evaluations.
5. RCA, CAPA & Continuous Improvement
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for non-conformities, deviations, and customer complaints.
- Implement and monitor Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
6. Laboratory Safety & GLP
- Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Maintain laboratory safety standards, chemical handling procedures, and housekeeping.
- Train team members on safety, quality, and testing procedures.
7. Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead, mentor, and develop the QC team to enhance technical competence.
- Coordinate with Production, R&D, Procurement, and IMS teams to ensure quality alignment across functions.
Qualifications & Experience
- MSc in Chemistry or BE in Chemical Engineering.
- 36 years of experience (Min) in Quality Control / Quality Assurance in a lubricant manufacturing company, including managerial experience.
- Strong knowledge of lubricant formulations, base oils, additives, and production processes.
- Hands-on experience in QMS, audits, documentation, and compliance.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and quality tools.
