As a QA and Test Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our Unified Communications products & platforms.If you're proficient in at least one scripting/programming language like Python, JavaScript, and possess expertise in API testing tools like Postman, Jmeter etc. and you're excited about delving into the world of SIP and VOIP protocols, we'd love to hear from you! While experience in these areas is preferred, we also welcome individuals with a strong understanding of software development and QA methodologies who are eager to learn and grow with us.
Job Description
The Unified Communications Engineering organization at Comcast innovates, develops, delivers, and operates voice and unified communications products to our commercial customers. Responsibilities:
Craft and implement innovative test automation strategies and methodologies with clear ROI analysis.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to manage releases and troubleshoot issues effectively.
Dive into low-level design analysis, transforming bugs into actionable user stories for our developers.
Actively contribute to triaging and resolving environment defects and issues.
Develop and maintain extensible test automation frameworks across multiple application platforms, utilizing both open source and proprietary tool sets.
Be at the forefront of designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts.
Drive continuous improvement of Continuous Integration pipelines, ensuring best practice metrics and reports.
Deliver high-quality software across test plans, scripts, and reports, and implement metrics and dashboards for progress and product quality reporting.
Champion shift-left testing practices, ensuring top-notch quality for our clients.
Identify, design, and implement innovative technical solutions to enhance test effectiveness and coverage while optimizing test execution costs.
Play a crucial role in the maintenance of smoke tests and the integration of new APIs into the automation framework.
The Ideal Candidate:
Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
Preferred domain expertise in SIP and VOIP protocols.
Strong understanding of software development and QA methodologies.
Experience with various test frameworks and tools such as Selenium Webdriver, Django, Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, and Appium.
Knowledge of object-oriented design principles.
Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies and frameworks.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, or Bamboo.
Experience with tools & applications such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, BitBucket, Git, and Artifactory/Maven.
Experience with API testing and web services automation using SOAP and REST services.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Core Responsibilities
- Write and edit automated test code, using the same standards as a Software Engineer, that allows for repeatable, reliable testing solutions to test the wide functionality of products and software in accordance with specifications and technical requirements, maintaining automation codebase in a version control system (GIT, SVN).
- Execute automated test scripts and evaluate results.
- Analyze broken test cases and diagnose and repair to working order.
- Assist in identifying viable test strategies in order to support testing product functionality.
- Create automated testing documentation, including Test Plans, Test Summary Reports etc.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
