Python Developer – Trading Data Analysis & Backtesting

About the job

This is not a typical Python developer role. You wont be working on small, isolated projects or dashboards.

Youll work directly with trading data, historical backtests and research pipelines used to evaluate real trading strategies before capital is deployed.

Your work will directly influence what gets traded and what doesnt.

Key responsiblities

• Build and maintain Python-based backtesting code for trading strategies.
• Work with large historical market datasets (CSV, databases, minute-level data, logs).
• Clean, align, and process time-series data using pandas.
• Identify data issues, biases, or flawed assumptions in backtests.
• Collaborate with the trading and engineering teams to refine strategy logic.
• Build simple internal dashboards (Streamlit or similar) to visualize backtest results, strategy metrics, and research outputs for internal decision-making.

This role sits close to the trading desk - your analysis directly feeds real trading decisions, not presentations.

Other requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Comfortable working in a lean team with minimal hand-holding.
• Willing to take ownership of tasks and follow them through to completion.
• Able to debug independently and learn from existing codebases.
• Comfortable working with data-heavy, real-world datasets.

Strong fundamentals and a practical, execution-focused mindset matter more than years of experience.
